There is strict requirements for the pictures used ingame here at AE, so we cannot simply just pull one off google and use it.

I also realize that there are restrictions, but if you outline the requirements, Im sure he would be happy to find some for you to add if it bothers him.

#258808 What's your favorite/most hated real-world airline livery?

Posted by Chubby Bear on 04 January 2018 - 09:46 AM in General AE Discussion

My favorite is Aerolíneas Argentinas livery

least favorite: Frontier and Kulula.com

Kulula is still bearable but pretty bad i have to agree, although I do think Mango is even worse.

Best would probs be Etihad ( Such a nice clean and balanced look) or the classic Air Seychelles ( gives off such a nice vibe)

#258568 how was your year?

Posted by Chubby Bear on 01 January 2018 - 02:07 AM in Off Topic

i don't know what is a gap year

A gap year, also known as a sabbatical year, is a year’s break between high school and college/university, aimed at promoting a mature outlook with which to absorb the benefits of higher education.[1] It also indicates a break before entry into graduate school. - According to Wikipedia

Real life -  A year in which to properly F$ck up your life, Do nothing but lay around all day, smoking weed, having sex, picking up heaps of STI's, going to jail, becoming part of a gang , going on overseas holiday to properly f$ck up that poor country too and get deported. In all it is to feel the freedom from any obligations and school life etc. Wait for college to start etc. fun times.

#258567 Biggest DOP Jump in 24 hours

Posted by Chubby Bear on 01 January 2018 - 01:57 AM in General AE Discussion

I've managed to get an increase of $1bn in a day, buying over 2,000 used aircraft on a spamline I ran :P

Same, in the airline I run now I managed to buy over 2500 aircraft and lift my DOP from 127mil per day to 1.3bn per day. Took my passengers carried to over 4mil as well from just over 1.6mil. Nuts  ^_^

Was this ever actually used in commercial passenger service?

This would be an interesting question considering it was actually tested by commercial carriers, i would however like to see it in but i doubt it would qualify

Profitable 3* IFS that will most likely be accepted by alliances as well plus boosts your reputation. Will upload a pic of IFE later.
Ifs 3 star Or 4 star

How about no, because this is how bad information and data spreads in aviation.

Calm yourself, I made it quite clear i was just throwing around some numbers for fun, never said to use the info given. It was purely to give some insight ( even if it was just for me) as I was interested in it, I do realise that we are going to have to wait for the official data but why not speculate in the mean time. :/

#258217 Need help and tips on how to keep my airline viable

Posted by Chubby Bear on 27 December 2017 - 09:48 AM in Airline Takeover / Shared Control Requests

To get your airlines to be a part of alliances and a basic build up of your airline is ultimately your goal right. Well a member of the community "hake" gave me the following tips when I was just starting out. Feel free to use them if you want.

Keep your spamlines, AE isn't about conforming to quality no matter what, it's more playing your own style, as well as running "quality" airlines if you wish. I'll take Alleron as an example I suppose. While it may have a low catchment area, many quality airlines are quite small. A spamline is an airline which takes advantage of current game systems in order to exploit the maximum money from an aircraft. So many airlines become this, but the key is how to go against this, while maintaining profit.

  1. You've set up your airline in a world that is new and free of a lot of competition ( the goal )
  2. You have your destinations, your main money makers - implement Scam IFS- because Scam IFS goes against all alliances. Right? Wrong. I don't know if you're aware of 3* and 4* Scam IFS, but these boost cash flow while maintaining reputation and standards. Secondly, your IFE. Over 4* is preferable, so I suggest putting the "Add ons" under it, as these are virtually free to run, cheaper than AOD, VOD etc. and just as effective.
  3. Let your money build up, as you keep expanding. When you feel you have enough reserves ($50M maybe) then configure your aircraft. Full pax aircraft are frowned upon in alliances, so use Oggey's Seat Map Index for this.
  4. Don't forget to hub your main airports to make airlines look more desirable to alliances.
  5. Now you're done

this is an interesting one, we can always throw some numbers around for fun while we wait for the official figures to roll in.

Please excuse if these numbers are wrong or make little sense, im afraid my hangover from last night is still strong. ;)

So currently SA Airline serves the Island on a weekly basis from JNB via WDH on to HLE on the Embraer E190

That aircraft will only be allowed to use 76 of 87 seats and block the rest off to allow the aircraft to make the trip. This is beacuse of HLE runway, range, payload issues, engine ops etc.

So lets say 4 flights per month inbound to HLE at full pax volume = 304 pax per month

times that by the full 52 weeks in a year so 304 * 12 months = 3648 pax per year at 100% load factor

Now we know that those figures are not realistic so lets keep that load factor at a more realistic 80% so that equals 60 seats per flight available only, that seems a bit low so lets lift that to about 65 seats per flight or about 85% load factor.

so 65 seats *4 weeks = 260 * 12 months = 3120 pax per year ish.

Now we do have that charter flight also operated by Airlink to Acsension Island once a month, so lets add those flights inbound pax figures from Ascension Island as well just for kicks.

65 per month * 12 months = 780 pax per year extra.

so a grand total of 3900 pax per year inbound, times that by two to get 7800 pax per year total,  im guessing the airport will operate at around 5000-10000 perhaps even close to 15000 pax per year in the first operating year.

Now this abviously does not include any extra airline operating any future services nor does it include any special holiday or military charters etc. Just the basic service the airport now receives and those possible figures. Again those could be totally wrong, just wanted some insight into the pax amounts the airports would be operating at while it started up.

#257648 LA, here we come.

Posted by Chubby Bear on 19 December 2017 - 05:40 AM in Off Topic

We fled South Africa to Australia some 13 years ago, ( My father worked in the secret service against the government). We moved from Cape Town to Brisbane - a 11700km move. We knew no one, had no friends or any family there. It took us a good 6 months to a year to fully settle into our new home but after living there for over 8 years it truly felt like home and I was actually so glad we did leave SA, considering the postion they now find themselves in. After 8 yrs in Brisbane I moved alone to Auckland,New Zealand- once again a 2300km move. I was once again completely alone in a new country, I moved here to study Air Traffic control and went through pases of depression etc beacuse of my lonelyness, But once again today Im as happy as I have ever been. Im engaged and have tons of friends. My brother now live in New Zealand as well so at least I have some family here. Trust me it is very overwhelming to be alone in a new place, especially a place as big a LA, but you will be fine and happy after a while! see it as a challenge to yourself!

Goodluck, Im sure you are going to have fun.

In Europe (except the UK I think), it's called Opel, while in countries like Australia and the US it's called Vauxhall.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct!

Mate,  In the UK it might be called a Vauxhall and in Europe an Opel but in Australia and New Zealand it is known as a Holden and in countries like South Africa it is also called Opel, The USA imports them from Europe and slaps a Buick badge on.
