Well we can do gates based on ICAO classification, which I'm already doing :P

But in general I think I'll stick to real airplanes.

Your call, just an idea

Kota Kinabalu's New Airport Finally Opens For Service

Kota Kinabalu's much-anticipated refurbished airport has finally welcomed its first passengers, with Malaya Air Flight 1025 from Kuala Lumpur touching down at the new terminal this morning.

Airport Layout

273ryxJ.png

The expansion of the airport includes a new runway, a new concourse, refurbishments to the current terminal building, and additional buildings for airport operations. The former passenger terminal, formerly known as Terminal 1, has expanded, to the now Concourse A with an addition of a new satellite building, known as Concourse B. The former Terminal 2, at the North of Runway 1, has been converted into a cargo terminal, which currently caters to freight operations.

Concourse A and Concourse B is connected via an underground people mover system.

Cargo Terminal

The cargo terminal of the airport is the main gateway for freight operations to Sarawak and Sabah.

Gb7TMNu.png

Note :

  • All bays serve aircrafts of all sizes from ICAO aeroplane design code "B" to ICAO aeroplane design code "F".

Vacant Bays :  Bay 2, Bay 3, Bay 1 (share with FedUp)

Concourse A

Concourse A currently handles all domestic flights within Malaysia, with the exception of regional carrier Malaya Ekspres flights to Cebu. Aircrafts on this particular flight will dock at Gate A13, where separate immigration facilities are available. Concourse A also accommodates the airport's main check-in hall and arrivals hall.

Domestic passengers will clear security before entering the departures lounge of this concourse, thus arriving domestic passengers will be segregated from departing domestic passengers. Passengers heading to Cebu on Malaya Ekspres flights will have to clear an additional security check after passing through immigrations at Gate A13.

boj9d1w.png

Note :

  • Gates A1-A2, A5-A10 serve purely narrow-body aircrafts with ICAO aeroplane design code "C".
  • Gates A3-A4, A11 serve wide-body aircrafts with ICAO aeroplane design code "E". These gates use Multiple Aircraft Receiving Stands (MARS) system, which allows the the flexibility of parking either a single wide-body aircraft or two narrow-body aircrafts.
  • Gates A12-A13 are remote stands, mainly use to serve turboprop flights.
  • Gate A13 is the only gate in the concourse that can be used for both domestic and international flights.

Vacant Gates : All Occupied

Concourse B

Concourse B currently handles international flights. It is a satellite terminal building, connected to Concourse A via an underground people mover system.

International passengers (with the exception of passengers heading to Cebu on Malaya Ekspres) will clear immigration at Concourse A, before boarding the people mover to Concourse B, where they'll clear security at their individual boarding gates, arriving passengers will not be segregated with departing passengers in this concourse.

e5Q6ZoR.png

Note :

  • Gates B1-B3, B7-B9, B13-B15, B19-B21 serve purely narrow-body aircrafts with ICAO aeroplane design code "C".
  • Gates B4-B6, B10-B12, B16-B18, B22-B24 serve wide-body aircrafts with ICAO aeroplane design code "E". These gates use Multiple Aircraft Receiving Stands (MARS) system, which allows the the flexibility of parking either a single wide-body aircraft or two narrow-body aircrafts.
  • Gate B4 can also serve wide-body aircrafts with ICAO aeroplane design code "F", though it is rare to see an A380/B747-8 at this airport.

Vacant Gates : B9, B14, B15, B16, B22, B23
