#259389 Is leasing the best option with big planes?

Posted by colombian_aviator on 11 January 2018 - 04:38 AM in New Players and Questions

So since I ran out of routes with high demand to do in europe i was thinking on doing long-haul flights and I was looking through all the different prices for the 777 and a330. And I did some calculating and leasing showed to be around 20% cheaper since there's only a limited time obviously. And it totally makes sense that the price is gonna be higher if you buy aircraft beacuse you have it for a long time... So what the question is, Is leasing really 20% cheaper like I calculated or is there a mechanic behind that I'm not seeing?

-Best regards, Salvador

#259596 Is leasing the best option with big planes?

Posted by colombian_aviator on 13 January 2018 - 04:52 AM in New Players and Questions

I personally prefer leasing my aircraft on 10 year contracts then outright buying them at the end of those contracts, if not just outright buying them in the first place. It's how I can get away with none of my airlines having any cash and still getting as big as they are.

So you can buy aircraft that you have leased atm?

#259597 Route Strategy

Posted by colombian_aviator on 13 January 2018 - 04:55 AM in New Players and Questions

I just joined AE and im new to these airline economics that take place on the game.. I've heard people talk about "long distance small pax" and other "strategies" I just want to know if any of you can teach me some mechanics and how to place good routes and decide which are good enough and wich are bad etc. Just to get me into the mechanics so I can understand more.

Posted by colombian_aviator on 13 January 2018 - 05:21 AM in New Players and Questions

So I was watching mcgeek series and I saw the ads in the videos, then since i had AdBlocker I turned it off for this page, load the game again and no ads, Did AE somehow stop putting ads which is probalby not the case... or do I have to do something else? I felt bad for having ad blocker while this game was so fun...  :(

#259713 Steam login not working

Posted by colombian_aviator on 14 January 2018 - 01:07 AM in New Players and Questions

Steam has been derpy the past 4-6 months, I think some features wont work for some people as it might work for some. I recommend uninstalling and installing again. P.S If you dont move your game files to a different place it'll remove them, search up the correct instructions so you dont mess up anything.

#261999 Aircraft Age Limit

Posted by colombian_aviator on 27 January 2018 - 12:12 AM in New Players and Questions

I was looking at my fleet and then it camr to me.. When will I have to renew my planes? I dont really know that mechanic of the game but if someone could get a list of max age per aircraft then would be appreaciated

#262001 Aircraft Age Limit

Posted by colombian_aviator on 27 January 2018 - 12:32 AM in New Players and Questions

That's because there is no max age. If you want to use 40 year old planes then the game will not stop you LOL

Time to go Delta and use MD-81s for eternity haha.

#262002 Do planes still get delivered after end of production date?

You don't have to renew aircraft but it'll bring your reputation down.

Oh alright, thanks!

#262106 MD-81 replacement

Posted by colombian_aviator on 27 January 2018 - 11:43 PM in New Players and Questions

A replacement that's more fuel efficient and in the pricetag of about 75mil that i can from like 1996 and forward. I've found that the MD-81s arent the best. I just want a quick and cheap replacement. Also in the 140-170 seat capacity.

#262148 767 Replacement

Posted by colombian_aviator on 28 January 2018 - 04:16 AM in New Players and Questions

Just a cheaper and not a too unefficient aircraft, I was wondering about the MD-11 but MD's fuel efficiency isnt the best or atleast it isnt known for being the best

P.S I  dont have a 767 currently but I had one, when I figured out the costs to the profit the aircraft made, I was making 40% less money if I had it, So I sold it

#262153 767 Replacement

Posted by colombian_aviator on 28 January 2018 - 05:38 AM in New Players and Questions

Your best bet is an A330-200 or a 787. MD-11 could work as a 767-400 replacement, but it's fuel flow isn't the best thing in the world.

What Im looking for is a 767-ish that isnt that costly in maintanance and its fuel efficiency isnt that bad

#262154 MD-81 replacement

Posted by colombian_aviator on 28 January 2018 - 05:42 AM in New Players and Questions

Im trying to look for basically a copy of the MD-80 just that with more fuel efficiency, the goal is to get a more fuel efficient aircraft that still doesnt cost to much for maintance and to aquire itself hence "75 million pricetag" So if there's something different than an A320 or A319 or the airbus family overall, then ill look into it

#262160 What do you think is the hardest country to operate out of?

Posted by colombian_aviator on 28 January 2018 - 08:33 AM in General AE Discussion

If you could only do domestic flights in the country in which your hq airport is... I would say Malta haha.

And since it would be better to say "by region" I would say south america in which I think doing international medium range flights is the only way to make a profit until you can get your hands on mexico and some part of the us, and its still a pretty long distance

#262252 Best region to operate in?

Posted by colombian_aviator on 29 January 2018 - 06:15 AM in General AE Discussion

So let's say I enter a world and want to choose a good spot to start my airline, What I want is: around 200 demand in  flights, and 500 demand minimum for international flights that have to be in range of a 737 or A320-A321. Just a fun experiment to see what people think is the kinda best place to operate in... Also competition could be around 2-3 airlines. Sorry if this sounds confusing its 1AM  :S

#262254 transfer of money between companies

Posted by colombian_aviator on 29 January 2018 - 06:46 AM in New Players and Questions

It would be kinda cheating especially in sandbox worlds but in normal worlds it wouldnt be much since you'll eventually get 7mil every hour, though it would be pretty cool if for example you want to get your friend into ae and you gave him your 2nd airline so both of you can cooperate etc. Im pretty new to the game and dont know all features n' stuff so I might be wrong in some things

#262300 Always go in debt !

Posted by colombian_aviator on 29 January 2018 - 08:39 PM in New Players and Questions

Try to base yourself in a small airport that still has around 10 gates since you're gonna runout of domestic routes to operate in and you're gonna runout of domestic routes, also europe skies treaty might take a bit if the game is in 1990.

If you're going to use A320s or 737s try to buy a 3 bulks at a time so the maintanence cost is reduced. If you decide to buy them one by one the maintanance price will be higher if you buy one by one, but if you buy in bulk itll be the same price than only one aircraft (you'll have 1 aircraft instead of 3 for the same maintanance cost)

Don't buy aircraft until you have a steady income, when you have enough money start buying aicrafts since you're leased ones are going to start to reach the original buying price, plus the aircraft adds up years which adds up more maintanance and your reputation goes down

And also always maximize out your aircraft hours for maximum profit, aaaaaaand finally... have fun ;)

#262314 Always go in debt !

Posted by colombian_aviator on 30 January 2018 - 12:46 AM in New Players and Questions

You can buy planes one by one to lower maintenance cost. There is a base cost for the type and then an individual plane cost that changes with age of the plane as the game progresses.

Buying or leasing groups or sets of planes will lower purchase price or lease payment however.

What im saying is that it'll take you time to get the three aircraft and while you're saving up the costs add up. But if you buy an aircraft in bulk you'll have three aircraft to operate with and the same maintanance price.

#262508 Am I not seeing something?

Posted by colombian_aviator on 31 January 2018 - 06:51 AM in New Players and Questions

So I was looking for aircraft to purchase for transatlantic flights and I saw that the A340 had the same price than a 767 even though it has 2000mi more range, and 120-ish more seats. Is the 767 more fuel efficient than the A340 or is the A340 just OP?

#262511 Airline-Provided Training

Posted by colombian_aviator on 31 January 2018 - 07:44 AM in Pilot Job Discussion

Since I probably wont be able to afford doing flight school I just wanted to ask If any of you guys know any airlines that cover training costs for people who want to have a job as a commercial/freight pilot. I currently live in Colombia and was looking if Avianca the flag carrier for Colombia have ever covered costs for training since they're a pretty decent airline and have a good reputation. I also have U.S citizenship since I moved to Colombia not long ago after I was born and maybe that could help in a way get more job opportunities? I don't really care about what place or what type of airline it is. It can be in Chile, Peru, U.S, ect. If anyone has any info they can share regarding this topic it would be appreaciated.

#262512 Call of War

Posted by colombian_aviator on 31 January 2018 - 07:51 AM in Other Games

I has played it for a bit and managed to invade and occupy Bulgaria, Greece, and Yugoslavia. After that it just got boring to wait 4 days to just invade a country. Could be better if it was fast-paced which would make it more competitive which.... Would compensate for the simplicty and just kinda boringness of the game. I would be fine by playing matches of 20 mins or so, could actually make it fun  :)
