#52673 Disproportionate demand in sim2

Posted by Kontio on 18 December 2007 - 11:15 PM in Bugs

I'm flying DTW to DEC (Decatur, IL) with a 739 and autoprice gives me ticket price $1,197.00 for one daily flight and a a nice profit correspondingly. This seems really disproportionate compared to other nearby little airports I am flying to which barely make any money with a Beech. I actually checked the Decatur airport web page and their only scheduled flight is to STL twice daily on a Beech 1900 :P

#52576 Sort feature not working

Posted by Kontio on 17 December 2007 - 08:50 AM in Bugs

The sort feature is not working in the newly opened sim2. Just bumping the thread if this could be fixed. Thank you!

#56953 how change airline`s name

Posted by Kontio on 16 August 2008 - 06:37 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

It is can, but only by declaring bankruptcy (starting the game again with 5 million cash and 2 planes). Then you will have the option of renaming your airline.

#52706 Add countries in "Gate rental negotiations"

Posted by Kontio on 19 December 2007 - 10:12 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

Would it be possible to add the state and country to the city name in "Gate rental negotiations"? This information should be available in the game database as it is shown when selecting the city pair in "Research route".

#55580 So how does the new used aircraft market work?

Posted by Kontio on 14 May 2008 - 03:57 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

I understand that you make bids to buy aircraft and offers to sell them. When a bid and an offer match, the system automatically executes the sale. This is how I have always thought it should be. What I don't understand is how am I supposed to do business if I can't see the bids and offers anywhere? It is just showing the values of the aircraft, which is rather pointless. What I want to see is what is the highest bid and the lowest offer at the moment, and also the second and third best offers, if possible. I also want to see the price of the latest sale for any given airplane. The whole idea with a stock market type system is that all this information is public.

So am I missing something here, is the information available somewhere? What do I have to do to sell my Beeches?

#52674 LF 100% with autoprice

Posted by Kontio on 18 December 2007 - 11:32 PM in Bugs

I have hubbed DTW and am flying to big cities and small cities with big planes and small planes. After opening the hub I have noticed that autoprice tends to make the loadfactors go all the way to 100%, which is kind of nice but somehow seems wrong. When I first create a route it gives a more realistic loadfactors, but when I open more routes the older routes sort of creep up to 100% LF. Not all routes, but most of them.

Looking at the route information pages with the pie charts of routes with 100% LF I notice something weird. For example, DTW-ALB with 1X ATR-42, it says:

O&D passengers 70%
Connecting passengers 30%
Unused capacity 61%

O&D + connecting is always 100% and then there is additional unused capacity. That can't be right, or is it just a problem with the chart?

#52670 Error message while buying off the used market

Posted by Kontio on 18 December 2007 - 10:24 PM in Bugs

I bought a Beech on the public market and received the following error message:

Warning: fopen(sale_log.csv): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/airlinee/public_html/sim2/buy_used_ac.php on line 298
Error writing to log.

I did receive the aircraft, though.

#55602 Restart Errors

Posted by Kontio on 16 May 2008 - 06:25 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

My sim2 account has was reset today? And my sim 1 account still has not reset? Reasons?

Sim2 and Sim1 are independent games, only Sim2 was reset recently.

#55680 Terminal gate leases

Posted by Kontio on 22 May 2008 - 06:19 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

can a person lease gates from their own terminal?

You mean lease them to other players? That is not possible.

#56481 Can't edit list price

Posted by Kontio on 14 July 2008 - 03:44 PM in Bugs

I want sale a aircraft (B 707)
Now I have a price 82'000'000 and i would change this price, but there isn't an edit button.. what can/should I do?

Take it off the market and put it back with the new price.

#53241 Rankings Page

Posted by Kontio on 04 January 2008 - 03:40 PM in Bugs

When i go on to the rankings page sometimes it shows me that im 8th but on my main page it shows im 29th, Is this a bug?:puzzled:

Yes, it is a known bug. The ranking of a player tends to depend on whether he/she is logged in or not.

#55631 Used Beech

Posted by Kontio on 17 May 2008 - 07:27 PM in Bugs

I bought a used Beech 1900D from the used market. I placed my bid with a maximum price of 0 (testing what that would do, hoping to get a Beech immediately at any price, basically) and a Beech was immediately delivered with the price of -180,000 and I was charged slightly less than 6 million. The plane is still flying WAW-FRA (I have neither of those gates). This may be a bug?

#55647 Im a hacker?

Posted by Kontio on 18 May 2008 - 03:04 PM in Bugs

When you order multiple aircraft you get a discount. However, when the system checks if you have enough cash for the downpayment, it does not take the discount into account. If you have just enough money to pay the discounted price, but not enough money to pay the full price, you get that message.

You could also try searching the forums...

#57001 Time

Posted by Kontio on 19 August 2008 - 06:16 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

I can only assume the largest player base is in the USA so it really would make more sense to have the changeover during our nighttime (like Sim1... its at 10:00pm Eastern) so more people could be online during the changeover but its been early in the day for the last 2 rounds in Sim2 since it went to 1hr=1day.

Of course everyone wants the changeover time to be convenient to them, but since there are players all over the world the fair solution is to vary the changeover time from one game to another. That way everyone gets to have convenient changeover times and inconvenient changeover times. The other option would be to have a 30-hour month, for example, so that the changeover time would change from day to day.

#56988 Time

Posted by Kontio on 18 August 2008 - 07:08 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

is it possible to make it back to that?

No.

and what delivery time do we have now atm?

17:30 (my local time).

#56583 Time Suggestion

Posted by Kontio on 18 July 2008 - 07:39 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

What is everyones opinions on this? I would like to see the game play bumped back up to 2:1.

In my opinion 1:1 is fine. I found the faster pace difficult as I was not able to log in every game day. The market will always become saturated, not really a question of how fast the game advances. I don't think bug fixes are delayed by waiting for resets, were there any fixes when Sim2 was just reset? As for progress taking "forever", it may feel like that in the very beginning, but I really did not find that a problem in the past sometimes spending hours every day adjusting routes.

#53185 Ultra noob question :(

Posted by Kontio on 03 January 2008 - 10:17 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

This 'sim2' will be reseted in jan5, so I thought it would be a good idea start a game from the begining too.. so, here is my dummy question: where is this game? I see no reference in airlineempires.net home page? :puzzled:

There's a menu on the top of the page. Select MANAGEMENT SIM, then LOGIN. On top is the login to sim1 (Original AE Game Server). Scroll down for Premuim Game Server (sim2). I think you can use the same username and password as for sim1.

#53193 Ultra noob question :(

Posted by Kontio on 03 January 2008 - 12:01 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

Hmmm, did you sign up separately for both? I had to sign up separately for sim1 and sim2.

Maybe it depends on when you signed up in the first place? When sim2 was opened I was already playing sim1 and I just logged in to sim2 with my old username as soon as it was announced. If you started with the game later, you may have had to sign up separately for sim1 and sim2.

#53189 Ultra noob question :(

Posted by Kontio on 03 January 2008 - 11:50 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

No, both sims require you to sign up separately, but you can use the same username/ password for both.

I used the same username/password and I have the same number (#12604) in both sim1 and sim2 so there must be some kind of connection there. I suppose you can use the same account or different account, as long as you run only one airline in sim1 and one airline in sim2.

#52657 Multiple Airlines

Posted by Kontio on 18 December 2007 - 05:22 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

I really don't see the point here. So what if my props and regional jets were operated from one account and big jets from another account? I would have to manage them all anyway and it would be inconvenient to switch between accounts. Also, for this to make any sense, the two accounts would have to share the connecting passengers. That sounds like a major change in the game, which would introduce lots of new bugs and take a lot of time until it worked properly. That time would be better spent on developing other aspects of the game.

#53227 AE 1946 Help..

Posted by Kontio on 04 January 2008 - 09:26 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

You have 4 DC-3s and the game is already well underway. You are flying between major airports, but the problem is that so is everybody else! Bigger airlines probably have bigger planes on these routes which means that the prices have gone so low that your DC-3s just are not competetive.

As for short routes making most money, if you think about the DC-3, it is really slow and only has 28 seats. A plane like this is most suitable for short flights with higher frequencies. MDW-IND seems like a good route, the airports have decent passenger numbers and are close together.

#53091 Not Again x.x

Posted by Kontio on 02 January 2008 - 05:22 PM in Bugs

Is this an isolated incident, or has this problem been recurring?

This has been quite frequent on recent rounds of the game.

#56501 Aircraft missing

Posted by Kontio on 15 July 2008 - 05:54 AM in Bugs

If you bothered to read all the posts about the used market you would realise that it is riddled with bugs.

Don't use it until it's fixed!

I have "bothered" to read the forum, I am not saying that I am exactly surprised that this happened. However, this is a beta game and we are testing it as much as we are playing it, and what gets tested if we just don't try all features after a reset and a possible fix?

What I am saying is PLEASE revert back to the old system, it enabled us to buy and sell used aircraft without (usually) getting screwed.

#56498 Aircraft missing

Posted by Kontio on 15 July 2008 - 05:27 AM in Bugs

The exact same thing just happened to me. When I received the airplane it was already placed on routes but I was able to close them. Now I've lost the money, the plane, and am stuck with gates I can not return. PLEASE bring back the old used market, even with all the cheating it worked!

#55740 How do you guys keep track of your air routes..

Posted by Kontio on 29 May 2008 - 06:53 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

How do you continue making sure they make around the same profits everyday.. i only have 3 planes... and it changes all the time!

I don't, really. I sometimes sort the routes by load factor to see if any have dropped significantly for some reason or sort them by profit to look for any anomalies. But I don't have time to track for the small changes that occur all the time due to changes in my routes and my competitors' routes. And why would I want to do that?
