In Topic: HS 748 replacement

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. Looks like I'm going to get the Q400s, then replace them with ATR-42-600s when the aircraft comes out.

I like the capacities of the ATR42/72, although the range of the earlier variants would make them impossible to replace the HS 748 completely. The longer-range variants come out in 2010, so I see them more as replacements to the replacement to the HS 748 than direct replacements to the HS 748.

Maintenance costs go up as an aircraft ages, so if I were you, I would replace the older aircraft with a newer and more fuel-efficient aircraft when one comes out. That's just my opinion, though.

To determine how many frequencies I should add to a route, I use the following formula:

F = YDemand * 7 / YSeats.

It's hard to explain how it works, as it just works for me. It will work with most seat configurations, provided that the seat configuration ratio is realistic or close to realistic (It doesn't matter whether the plane has barely any seats or is packed with so many seats that there's barely any legroom).

After I get the result, there's usually decimals with it, so I round up or round down, depending on the result. Then, I increase or decrease frequencies if there's any competition.
