The problem with the templates you're advocating for is that they're not layered like Med's are. In that the base fuselage isn't separate from all the nice artistic effects. On Med's those are separate, so you're able to put a full color livery in between them.
For example on your Mountaineer deal you just did, the billboard titling up front either has to have its opacity turned up, or you have to use a Photoshop effect like Multiply to get the windows and other details behind it to show up. Which in turn in this case has lead to them looking faded with the color being off in addition to a few additional steps.
Whereas on Med's the only color skewing comes from the artistic effects from the layer above where the titling is (which honestly in my experience ends up not being that bad), and you don't have to play with the opacity or other PS effects. In short the result is a fuller color, with the added benefit of being simpler. This checks out on prints as well because I'll be the first to admit in my hubris I've printed out some of my own gallery work onto paper.
You're free to s*** talk Med's templates all you want, you're a grown ass man so you're free to do you. Just understand that there's a reason why 99% of people here use those templates. Yeah there's clouds and things being reflected off the aircraft, but having talked to Med the idea behind it is that's what an aircraft looks like when it's flying and I think it looks nice.
If you don't like it why don't you take your critiques to Med yourself, I'm sure he'll take them into consideration. Or take the time to make your own templates with the effects you desire.
