The Airline code you can already use
Yes but that is only for claptrap. Using that code and creating flight numbers would be great (I guess)

Would it be possible to add names to aircraft?
Not only would that make it easier to manage the aircraft, but it would add a touch of realism.

On the cards for AE4, no major changes to the current AE3 gaming thingy because AE4 will have this.
When it comes, eventually.

Registrations and nosenames should be optional. If user choose to not customizing it's registration, system will random it(but it's format depends on it's base country, example for ID, PK). And moreover registration and nosename info also can be seen by everyone on airline summary when you click the fleet number and also can be seen on aircraft information.

I merged all the duplicate threads on this topic.
Aircraft registrations and names will be in AE 4. Registrations will be generated automatically using the prefix corresponding to the operator's home country and the airline's IATA code, but they can be customized as well (within the country constraints). For example, aircraft delivered to a US airline with IATA code XY would be registered as N001XY, N002XY, and so on by default.

Can we please get some more info on possibly when AE4 will be released. Perhaps a Beta version/Demo etc. to try out and give feedback or something, I am patient just thought it would be nice to have some clarity over it. Thanks Yux

I was thinking about adding a more personal touch to this game, and I would love to be able to give my planes names, like Virgin Atlantic or Pan Am. It would be a lot more interesting then seeing the aircraft numbers, and could be completely optional.
Thoughts?

good idea but realistically abit tedious when you hit 300+ aircraft

It would be completely optional. If you felt like it you dont have to name a single aircraft, but for those of us who do, we can.
