I always hate how some airlines are dumb enough to go that low on prices.
Just because you hate it doesn't mean it's dumb.

BAC Concorde lol.
160 max seats, 4194 range and freaking 106, 820 fuel flow??? and that's for 350 mil base price and 3.8m lease. What the actual F***?
Concorde was technically a narrow body aircraft.

I didn't read the whole thread, but the smallest one I've ever flown is Piedmont Airlines (not the airline that merged with USAir, but the former US Airways affiliate that flew Dash-8s out of CLT and maybe PHL/PIT)

Can't do 787. British Airways used to fly twice daily into Philadelphia. Once with a 777 and the other with a 787. But recently British Airways closed one of those flights so it could be operated by a 747-400
Surely AA 787s appear sometimes

ok ok guys stop gang-bashing me! I'm just stating an opinion, i never said you had to agree with it!!!
You stated an opinion, then other people stated their contrasting opinion, and backed it up with facts.

how would this be implemented? I mean, Air Canada has more demand YYZ-YVR (usually) than Air Transat because of frequency, pax comfort etc.
Those variables are taken into account in the "detailed reputation" section of the route page. What he is asking for is a visualization of the effects that they have on the demand.

Hi doc,
I have a question for you. I just discovered or so I think I have that discovered that you can put one plane on more than one route. I have a plane showing it goes from BOS to CHI to PHI the to BAL. Is this possible? and if so what would be the best way to set up or utilize such a route?
Thx Bos142
Yes, that is possible, but for the most part it is more profitable to send the planes between just two destinations, especially at the beginning of the game, to use gates more efficiently. It is more effective to use all 50 slots at 2 airports than to use 25 slots at 4 airports, if that makes sense.

Which people? Me or spamliners?
I was trying to point out the passionate hatred you seem to have for people who play to get the highest valuation.

These people don't play the way I want them to and that makes me ANGRY!!!

You know - IFS and IFE that a real airline would do, realistic hours and a low amount of fleet types.
One could also define 'good' as an airline that has a very high valuation and finishes high on the leaderboard. It's all subjective.

yeah it is - Pratt&whittney uses the 747SP with different engines all the time as a testbed, and plus normal airlines CAN change out the engines if they want to, for example, if there is an engine failure and they want to replace the broken one, they might as well replace both, and who cares what type?
Can you find an instance of an engine failure that required the entire engine to be replaced where they actually replaced the whole engine instead of just scrapping and replacing the aircraft? I feel like its not worth it to replace an entire engine ever.

Miscellaneous Tips for New Players
Item 1: Don't be afraid to ask the top ranked players questions like, what strategy are they following, how are they set up (IFS/IFE, whether they took out loans or not, how did they use them, etc)
Most of us will be happy to answer (although it might take a little time to get back to you).
Item 2: Join an Alliance. It helps to have other airlines in your home country, especially those who have numerous hubs set up that you as a fellow alliance member can make use of by flying to and from such hubs.
Item 3: When you get your starting aircraft, one of the things you can do is extend your lease from 1 year to at least 4 years (you can extend all the way out to 9 or 10 years [I forget which]). Extending that lease for the starter plane will lower your monthly lease payout by quite a lot.
Item 4: Understand that no matter which airport you choose as your HQ, for the 1st month only you will pay 250k for 5 gates - so it makes good financial sense to choose an airport where the monthly lease per gate is at least $25,000 - as you benefit from operating at an airport that normally you would have to pay a higher gate lease cost for. By the time that the second month comes and goes, hopefully you will have filled all 250 slots (you get 50 slots per gate.)
Item 5: You are more or less forced to pay all your employees the minimum wage allowed for the 1st few months; otherwise you will be at a profound disadvantage. After the 1st few months, if your preference is to play realistically, you can 1) adjust the salaries to the appropriate level, and 2) pay out one or more bonuses to make up for the below market wages your employees endured in the 1st few months.
Item 6: utilize all 140 hours for each aircraft you acquire/lease, especially in the 1st few months, otherwise - again - you will be operating at a financial disadvantage.
Good tips, except in number 4, you will want gates that are at least $50,000 as 5*50,000 = 250,000

The point is to use connecting pax to fill the flights as is the case in the real world. Only DEN, MSP, and ORD could realistically support O&D flights, and then only from fall to spring. I'd contend demand here is about 4x what it is in the real world (a figure that's true almost across the board).
Why only those cities? What made you choose those?

Programming demand like this would require a lot of work, and its not going to change any time soon.Well - there is a lot of demand to the caribbean. From the US and canada, there are A LOT of leisure flights to the caribbean islands now. Inter-island, not so much, but still.

Won't those be the same, since they're both L188s? 733s and 734s have the same so shouldn't these too? It'll be different. Manufacturer doesn't matter, what matters is the plane.

plus the value of your owned aircraft and owned terminalsIt is how much money your airline has

The airline probably has very big hubs at one or both of those airports, so he will be getting a lot of blue connecting passengers.

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to this game and after reading through the forums for a little while I had a question: Why do some people care so much about other people making so called 'spamlines'? Whether you play realistically or you make spamlines, who cares about what anyone else does? Hope this made sense
