#61047 Way to limit players

Posted by travelhouse on 13 May 2009 - 05:08 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

On the original post, and the second post, in principal, the limit of player numbers would work but there are very small numbers of players playing AE, compared to past years. The whole idea is to make an airline be a good top-line management of the airline and build up from your original cash and aircraft allocations.

The second post, LF factors, if you look at the latest adjustments, plus notice again that the plane swap has vanashed again, this will make the game more to a lot of players liking. We should see in this next round what the game gives this time, one feels that its going to be more an even playing field that in the past.

The developers have their finger on the pulse and are in my view, driving AE in the right foward direction...:)

Please 1st read:

http://forums.airlin...read.php?t=7970

Once you have read this and are still not sure, then ask Q?

Also, can you please post once, as you doubled up on a few posts, and as you are new, a moderator has to approve the post.

Welcome to AE:)

Posted by travelhouse on 17 May 2009 - 10:58 PM in Announcements

the LF is BAD, im at a -21k when before i had been at +7000, and thats just after one airline has come on a route of mine... my highest load factor is 44%

my one route's ticket is only $36 between 2 major cities... something just isnt right there...

If you set your routes, dont bother about the LF said factor and leave it for a few hours and log back in and re-adjust the routes you will find that those negitives will vanish.

I did this and as more players join, the better the LF becomes.

#61171 Aircraft Seating Adjustment

Posted by travelhouse on 19 May 2009 - 01:02 PM in Announcements

While we will all appreciate the efforts of the alterations and improvements made within AE, adding more calculations into a very unpredictable and delicate load factor script will only cause more issues within the game.

Developers will not know the true reasons why over the past years the level of players (Many Voiced to return if the LF is Fixed) have vacated the AE community all due to this revamped and unpredictable LF script.

AE once had over 2,000 players around, now it’s like 200, (Thou I think Duplicate airlines mark those 200 figures upwards) many more will depart if significant game play issues are not addressed.

While players would like to see these seating classes come into the game, we should all consider the past players concerns (and current) and try to place efforts into writing a load factor script that will keep this game alive.

:)

I managed fine with one aircraft and the first month you don't lose any gates anyway, you get a warning.

:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:

Then I am the only one who lost all my purchased gates:puzzled:

i never recieved extra when switching between the same type of plane...

I find the wording (Never) a false statement, when the plane swap was in place, even a B1900 if you swap into another B1900 you can make at times up-to 30% or more improvement.

Other higher Jets on one-way legs it was impossible to make good unless you used the swap, so the vast majority used and abused it.

It is gone now, many players have been asking Miller to remove it, why have an un-even playing field !!

This round despite the LF adjustments, will be a more of a game of (Good) management, you will see many in the top 20 change positions and the growth of all good managers will be without gaining un-fair advantage of plane swap.

#61191 How to Join an Alliance?

Posted by travelhouse on 20 May 2009 - 09:42 AM in Alliances

This alliance feature David is working on, in time it will assist players in code share and other benifits, right now and in past rounds, alliances have just gained members from other airlines and swapped ideas, assisted in issues from game problems and just a general chat on ideas.

2/3-Years ago, alliances and members were very vocal, in game and in the forum, now it is a somber group that one day may become vocal again.

I say, join an alliance, swap game plans and ideas as one day you may need assistance. When developers advance this alliance format, having a strong membership early, may benefit all their alliance members.

Just my thoughts :)

#61205 Star Alliance(Sim2) Thread

Posted by travelhouse on 21 May 2009 - 10:03 AM in Alliances

we need 1 more member to make 25! come on guys join up :)

Remember 25 alliance airlines in this game is a lot of members, you will find a lot of players will feel other members are invading on routes, alliance is what the defo means (the state of being allied or confederated)

I wish you well, but you best be on your toes to somber any bitter feeling from some members that could spring up in time.

#61207 New Aircraft

Posted by travelhouse on 21 May 2009 - 11:30 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

When Miller invented AE 1946 and added a vast array of aircraft suited to the era that the game was in was one improvement the players love, in sim2 it would be nice for a data collection person to gather a list for the developers much like Millers 1946 model and on the next reset of sim2, this be added.

That is my thoughts

#61210 New Aircraft

Posted by travelhouse on 21 May 2009 - 11:50 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

Older types of planes are added already to the game by the used market.

New "Older" planes would not be that much good in this game because they are not very economical.

Older planes are annoying as some players just purchased them and massed on some asian routes, but getting back to the Q?

I tried to look for the list that David added on used market for older planes to add this to the beginners guide list of aircraft but cant locate it.

On the second part of the reply, would it not be economical if the correct aircraft data was slotted? as in the past when Miller added new aircraft, some performed well others not, there must be a reason why?

#61239 Sim2 reset: Friday, may 15

Posted by travelhouse on 22 May 2009 - 04:57 PM in Announcements

well after 4 days, my origional fears are true... a q400 and 30mil is just too much to start with... i mean the there are airlines with 20+ aircraft already only after 4 days... at that rate the round should be over in about 2 RW months... you never use to be able get aircraft that quickly... starting with a q400 and 30 mil puts u months if not a year ahead of where you use to start... even with the profits being "lowered".

While I agree in parts, there are other factors to give thought too, developers need to slow the game a little, reverting back to $5M and 2 B1900 or J31's (Millers Original) seems to be right on the money.

New players that want to join and play next week, will find it hard to make a go of AE, as the server, updating of routes and gates will be issues. The end result will be thay come in look and say, stuff this too populated, no gates, takes forever to make a route and so on.

The used market, adding those silent additions of aircraft at changeovers has killed off many routes, except for the lucky players that grab them, they went from making on a route $900 to $1,5M and impossible for others to join, thus results in loss of game enjoyment.

Early days, LF adjustments seem to work quite well, be interesting to see the route established numbers this time next week and just how slow sim2 is.

We could be in for a reset within the months end.:)

#61247 Sim2 reset: Friday, may 15

Posted by travelhouse on 22 May 2009 - 07:39 PM in Announcements

but I'm still not convinced its particularly fair on the people who will inevitably join later.

.

As a Super Mod, I get a lot of Visitor Messages from those who have started an airline but never used the forums to make a profile.

Most are quite shocked to read forum, with so little time since reset in past that they have tried to make an airline but can not due to lack of gates in profitable locations or so many large aircraft making massive returns that their little beech is swollowed up.

Most say that this game is Cool, but not cool for the new starters after just a week of new rounds starting.

One must agree with their general comments, as it is selfish to keep this FREE on line game just for a select few......(Addicted AE Players)

(all those types of routes need is a well placed a333 or 757 at max freq to bring them down to $20 fares).

I have 2 x A333's is this an invite to have fun.:)

2. How about we scale back one-ways??? Ill leave it at that for now :)

I agree, one-ways are whats killing the game on many fronts, Some aircraft you can acheive so many one way routes that in real life it is impossible to match, having just spend a few hours looking into profitable one way legs, I managed to obtain with my A333 some DOP numbers that any real world airline would kill for.

In past rounds, one way used to be around 1/2 the revenue, so what happened :puzzled: Why is it such a vast difference :puzzled:

#61268 Sim2 reset: Friday, may 15

Posted by travelhouse on 23 May 2009 - 03:32 PM in Announcements

One-ways still produce half the revenue if there is enough demand for a roundtrip. If there is not enough demand for a roundtrip (2x number of seats), a one-way becomes more profitable because there are half the seats available so the ticket price goes up.

I see your point about having insane profits with one-ways - this will be taken into consideration when I design the new lf script.

Gotya, thanks - :)

"Your hubs in asia will be destoyed. Have a nice game."

Not sure what airline you are, however, this type of game play and in-game messages have been happening since the game 1st started many moons ago.

My advise !

Just hit (Delete)

If you must read them - dont let it get you down, remember AE is a semi-type of role game, in the fact that the top of the high tree (being leaderboard) is all some look at reaching some will employ any ways measurable to get there and many do like to play with your mind. (This is eactly whats happening here)

Play your style of game and enjoy.

#61306 Runway length at Manchester??

Posted by travelhouse on 25 May 2009 - 11:10 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

There seams to be some problem with getting 747's and the like to go from manchester because the runway length is not long enough according to the aircraft data. Now I know for sure in real life that they do and the 777's too..

Anyway to rectify this or is it just the way it is??

Thanks

Paul

Paul, this is a bug, and place it in bug forum, plus give the reference and what runway should be and quote ref, so Developers can attend to it.

Closing this so you can Bug it in a new post.

thanks

Janice
