To me, I think the realistic airline is more of a role playing idea, which I'm all for. They set self imposed restrictions on their airline and then compete.

As far as the spam lines ruining things by changing $1 for tickets...who does that? If I've set up my blue pax network properly, then I initially charge what the default rate is, then increase my prices as more silly blue paxers flock to my airline.

I honestly picked 100 hours because it seemed like a nice round number. Also, since I'm after blue pax, I don't really worry about the realistic Airlines after a certain point.

The spam lines are not competing for the green pax though.

For example - let's say there is a route from my hq in Bangkok to Dubai. I have a hub in BKK, and my alliance friend has a hub in Dubai. Once we build up blue pax demand in our respective networks, we are no longer in the normal green pax game. I can throw 10 gates worth of flights on that route for eventually whatever price I want. You can come along with your realistic airline, charge good prices, and take all of the green pax. We both profit...just differently.

I don't know why anyone would come along an drop a ton of seats for $1...you lose a ton of money if you're playing for the green pax, and my blue pax are never touched by your airline, so there's no reason for me to drop my prices.

I have one of the "evil" spamlines running in R1, but recently I decided to switch it up slightly and improve my reputation. All of my planes are moving to 90% seat capacity for legroom and I'm slowly adjusting to 100 hours per week utilization instead of 140 hours full use. With almost 1000 routes, and the long wait for 737s...it's taking some time. Also, I'm switching from an all lease line to full ownership. Finally, with my hq in Thailand, I can only build 35 hubs...so I can't spam as much as the US or Europe Airlines.

I'm still going to chase blue pax, but the game is more fun for me with these self imposed limits. Is the 90% capacity/100 hour per week a good plan or do you guys have better results with different numbers?

In Topic: How to Destroy a BluePax Spamliner

As I said upthread, I am holding off on the reveal for now because a valued ally from last round would like me to.

That said, this shouldn't be toooo hard to figure out if you're really trying to hit a blue pax spamliner. I've seen lots of airlines spend a lot of time - seemingly hours - trying to destroy my airlines without success. A little bit of testing would have revealed the proper method.

Important clarification:

This about BLUE PAX spamliners only. Several posters in this thread appear not to understand that distinction; perhaps they don't understand what a blue pax spamliner is at all.

Its been 3 months...no reveal...much sad
