CRJ-705 Seats and Legroom Rating
Posted 26 Apr 2012
The CRJ-705 (CL-600-2D15) is basically a CRJ-900 (CL-600-2D24) rated for 75 seats by Transport Canada mainly due to the Air Canada Pilots Association contract that limits the use of feeder jets by Jazz Air to 75 seats.
http://en.wikipedia....r_CRJ700_series (Not the most reliable source but this is wide known and commented about in other forums)
Both aircraft use the same eligible serial numbers with the type only dependent on interior configuration.
http://wwwapps.tc.gc...UM=&id_num=1189
Only 16 CRJ-705s have been delivered to Jazz Air (also a limit in the ACPA contract) and Jazz Air is the only operator of the type.

The seating configuration of the CRJ-705 used by Jazz Air is 10 C (37” pitch, 21” width) and 65 Y (34” pitch, 17” width) with personal AOD/VOD in every seat.
http://www.seatguru....air_CRJ_705.php
In AE, the CRJ-705 has a max seating of 85 (10 more seats than the type certificate) which allows configuring it with 10C 65Y seats as it’s used in real life but has a lower legroom rating than a CRJ-900 (90 seats) configured the same way.
Would it be possible to assign the CRJ-705 a max seating capacity of 90 seats for legroom rating purposes and limit the number of seats to 75 with a “political restriction”?
