Hi all,
So my airline in R6 recently started getting rid of the A330-200s and replacing them with the 787-8. The purpose was one of reducing fuel consumption from the Trent 772B to the Trent 1000 engines basically, plus nicer looking aircraft for pax.
On the plane screen for the A330-200, the Trent 772B's fuel flow is advertised as 42,660 while on the 787-8, the Trent 1000 are advertised as 33,792.
So I was checking if fuel savings were truly being made (makes the airline more efficient etc. to cut down on fuel expenditure), yet on my route EZE-ORD that is currently operated by both the A330-200 and 787-8 the A330-200 spends less on fuel than the 787-8.
Isn't a major selling point of the 787-8 is fuel efficiency, and if so; how can the A330 consume less fuel?
I'm aware that there probably is a really simple answer but I can't seem to find a logical explanation to why this is? Screenshot attached.
Cheers for the help,
LATAM
