Hi all,

So my airline in R6 recently started getting rid of the A330-200s and replacing them with the 787-8. The purpose was one of reducing fuel consumption from the Trent 772B to the Trent 1000 engines basically, plus nicer looking aircraft for pax.

On the plane screen for the A330-200, the Trent 772B's fuel flow is advertised as 42,660 while on the 787-8, the Trent 1000 are advertised as 33,792.

So I was checking if fuel savings were truly being made (makes the airline more efficient etc. to cut down on fuel expenditure), yet on my route EZE-ORD that is currently operated by both the A330-200 and 787-8 the A330-200 spends less on fuel than the 787-8.

Isn't a major selling point of the 787-8 is fuel efficiency, and if so; how can the A330 consume less fuel?

I'm aware that there probably is a really simple answer but I can't seem to find a logical explanation to why this is? Screenshot attached.

Cheers for the help,

Strange! But you still have many A332s on order and why do they use the same seat config?

I have A330s on order because the 787s will take 10 (GT) years to arrive, and by then the A330s will be c.17 years old, so I keep replacing them for a modern fleet, as the 787s arrive.

They have the same seat configuration because they have roughly the same amount of Max seats (~20) so it maintains routes like they currently are without having to open them individually and schedule more flights etc...

If you click save on the pricing page of the route it will update. If you leave it long enough the game will update it automatically.

I think there is a glitch with the snapshot above. The two planes fly at different speeds so the employee costs alone should not be the same. Think the game is not showing you the actual savings.

My question is, why are you replacing A332s with 788s?

Couldn’t you just do the job with 789s?

789s are really not that great in terms of efficiency gains compared to the 788.

What I want to know is why he’s even operating 332s. 333s have lower fuel flow, just configure them as you would a 332 get a boosted legroom rating and save money.

Good point.

To be realistic?
