Trojan pop up on login?

I've been logging in to this website the past 5 yearsish and today I logged in the first time on a windows PC, upon login I immediately came upon a Trojan pop up warning, there was no where for me to click out of my browser and constant pop ups, saying my computer was infected with a Trojan virus (only on the web browser). So, I force quit the web browser, did a virus scan using windows defender and there was no virus on my computer.

So I believe it was likely a virus ad pop up (trying to make me download dodgy spyware?). I just want to know if anyone had this issue? I never ever had an issue with IPhone or OSX, but second login on the windows PC let me onto the website with no issues. It's also the first time I ever had this happen on my windows PC.

Never happened to me but lately Ive been hearing about trojan ads that tell you to contact Microsoft by entering your email and receiving the fix in a download sent to your email

Why would it pop up on this website though and only on my windows computer? (Maybe adblock would stop the pop ups?)

That has happened to me before on other reputable websites. Most websites do no control the advertisements that are displayed, ads are picked by 3rd party services and occasionally a malicious advertisement can find its way through.

Just get AdBlock. I'm on Chrome and every so often it tells me of a popup which was blocked, which could've been the same one as you had.

Just disable the pop-ups, I've never had a problem but I think by default pop-ups are blocked on my computer.

I use MS Edge (yh, that thing). So no AdBlock for me.

I haven't seen this pop up, and would advise that you set AdBlock on if you at all have access to it. And, however annoying it is, have a web phishing protector (is this already in your antivirus?). This pop-up was clearly phishing, being opportunistic and trying to take advantage of a supposed naive person logging in to a random forum.

Hey guys, I just got my first message that falls in this category. I was looking at an airline and the popup showed up. I think that this is random. I don't know how it got on the site but this could be a problem for anyone who doesn't know better.

Clean your browser cache and remove any addons which you don't know about. If that doesn't help nuke the ****er with CCleaner and hope for the best.
