Yeah, the templates Med makes are fantastic. I would have a snowball's chance in hell without his templates

How do I post an image of a livery I created?
I made a 707 and a DC-7 and I'd like your opinion.

Click "More reply options"
At the bottom of the text window there is an attach files section. Click 'choose file' then once you've selected the one you want click 'attach this file'.

As far as your actual ability, you seem to have a better knowledge of whatever program you're using than I did when I started. The key is to just keep making more and more liveries and you'll get better. You're off to a good start though.
Older style liveries are a lot harder to do well. You have to take inspiration from actual liveries from the 1950s/60s. Older liveries still take me the most time to come up with and they are the ones that I am most unsure about
The 707 is the first livery I ever attempted and the A330 is one of the more recent iterations of that same airline. I've only been doing this since around December/January, so it shows how quick you improve

I have been using GIMP for quite a while (2-3 yrs), but never to do liveries. I guess Ill just keep experimenting and improving. (I don't think the DC-7 looks good, but the 707 is OK). Part of the problem is that I can't (or don't have the patience) to find really old looking fonts. What do you think? (If they look bad just say so.)
I take it you're from Scotland?

For your experience, the liveries are a good start. If you were to put them in the designer gallery, you would get absolutely shredded by the 'livery gurus'
I don't put stuff in the gallery because of the hostile environment there, it's not conducive to most people's confidence. That's why I just keep to myself or design for other people
If you want to make a good looking period livery steal a real one and alter it slightly to include your rainbows Your liveries look more modern than you are intending for them to.
The livery below is one of the few 50s liveries I've ever tried. I just stole bits from TWA and BOAC
Also yes, I'm from just outside Glasgow

Also, for fonts, google 'what the font'. It detects fonts from photos and can help with older looking fonts

Alright, I will try that!
Can you suggest a good starting place livery for the rainbow?
And do you have a gallery of all your liveries?
Thanks!

You could try a hybrid of United and American Airlines. Make the lightening bolt a rainbow and an R on the tail similar to the U on United.
I don't have a gallery but I'll fling together a collection of some stuff in a dropbox folder and post a link. It'll need to wait until after I've finished work though (the joys of being finished Uni for summer )

I added a gray bg so you can see the antennas.

Will try. I drew the colors and stuff on the body layer though. (Just the colors, not the text.)

Do you have the transparent modern version of the Rainbow Airlines Logo?
I'd designing a 733.

Also, what font did you use on the older logo?

What do you mean transparent? Like no background?
Also give me a few mins and I'll check the fonts.
