So current on the specific aircraft page, you only have 2 options (If you own the aircraft) Sell and Scrap. I am maybe thinking that 2 further options could be added, Store and Lease. The Store Button would give options of where to store (A choice or 2 in every continent) and a cost a bit lower then a typical leasing cost, or a flat fee per month/year. The Lease button seems obvious enough, but instead, some aircraft on the used market are available for leasing directly from the airline (Opens the door for leasing company's such as GECAS)
Ideas?

AE4 INTRODUCTION!!!!!
At least the leasing aircraft to other companies function is going into AE4. Store is currently not available, and I don't think it's on the timeline.

Many airlines store their aircraft. A cheaper alteranative then leaving them to sit idleIt would be good. If you store it, what use does it have? Is it with the idea that when C+E checks are performed, does it take that aircraft's place for the duration?

maybe reduced maintenance costs?

I support leasing but I don't see the point in storing. Surely there would be costs for storing to take away from the cheaper maintenance

That is basicly what I am saying,Cheaper to stick it in the desert than to stick it on valuable airport land.
Possibly have it so one can set the level of repairs carried out while in storage. The more you repair it in storage, the faster it can be returned to service. Paying a sufficiently low amount [possibly have $0 as an option] will result in a huge time to repair and a large cost to doing so.
Also welcome back fox

But, the way I see it is, if you don't need that aircraft, wouldn't it be wiser to sell it, or once AE 4 comes out, leasing it out to someone else?

I do like the option of being able to store aircraft and to be able to withdraw them from use. Storing would be more useful to airlines like Alta, retiring DC9s but leaving them somewhere, with the option to bring them back from storage some time later. (On a realistic note BA Actually did this recently with some 744s). WFU is more like me being able to retire my aircraft and never use them again, but keep them in the fleet. [See example, Aer Éire in RA].
For the people who couldn't be bothered to read - I like the idea.

Not if AE4 shows hours and cycles on aircraft...

As an incidental thought i had, perhaps donating aircraft to museums could be implemented - Westjet gave some 732s to museums. It could have a slight reputation boost, but come at a cost. [as you have to move the plane on airline money.]. Not sure how it could be implemented nicely, but noting it here.
I like this very much Foxy
