I understand that this would be incredibly difficult for the hardworking devs of the mythical AE 4.0 but after a manufacturer's support for an aircraft is discontinued, I think it should be made so that you must start buying used aircraft to scrap or scrapping some of your current aircraft for parts in order to keep aircraft maintained. This would also keep players from running DC-7s and CL-44s into the 2000's! Older aircraft could be relegated to cargo, like in real life if that gets added.

easier to simply increase the maintenance cost on an older aircraft on a higher scale than the way it it currently calculated. say at 25 years old the maintenance would increase +25% and at 30 years increase +50%.

This would also keep players from running DC-7s and CL-44s into the 2000's!

 

Since the cost increases as the plane grows older to a point where it is eventually unprofitable, when an airline is operating 50 year old aircraft that usually means the airline has been abandoned for a long time.
