Belo Horizonte's Central Area: A degraded region that already was the City's nightlife heart and the most beautiful region of Belo Horizonte.

I swear, this house in Lagoinha Neighborhood is not abandoned!

 rua_rio_novo.jpg

The horrible Lagoinha's Roadway's complex: Bad-planned constructions from different ages. Se the subway line in the left-down corner.

Old building in Antonio Carlos's Avenue: I think it was demolished for the Avenue's duplication.

Look at this: In the Heart of Belo Horizonte, in the ultra-movemented Amazonas Avenue, the Edifício Tupis, A.K.A.  Balança-Mas-Não-Cai ("Shakes-But-Doesn't-Fall") building. It was abandoned for decades. Now it is already repaired (since 2008), but I haven't a image of the today's building.

President JK conjunct: A half-constructed falanstery project from Oscar Niemeyer. It already had it glory times, but today, it looks like a vertical slum

The mine ones I've found on internet (majoritarily SkyscraperCity). I'll take my owns one day ;)

@abas What wonderful place! I saw on Wikipedia that is one of the largest plazas in the world. One more to my travel wishlist!

@bilal Your pictures are also from Isfahan? All of them amazing, specially the #3. So here I show to you the natural wonders from Brasil (the most-wnown Brasil good around the world).

This one is from Itaúnas Village (Espírito Santo county), in the Southeast. These dunes appeared 60 years ago and overwhelmed the old village. The process was slow, the dunes reached 30 meters just in the 70's, so another village could be reconstructed in the other side of Itaúnas River. Actually, the wind is transponing them to the other side of the road. As Itaúnas is a State Park, the park's administration is re-creating a vegetation in the dunes' corner as solution. It isn't a urban beach: To acess it, you need to cross the dunes (700m) or pass (by foot) in the Fisherman's  Road (about 1km). I passed my infancy visiting this beach every year.

FotosItaunas110107011.jpg

Abrolhos National Park: One of Brasil's richest biodiversity with unique sub-aquatic species. It's prohibited to fish in this region and only two islands can be visited: The Siriba Island (there is a trail in this island. It's very beautiful, I already went on it) and the Santa Bárbara Island, at 5:00PM, for visit the Beacon (I already went on it too. It's incredible, there's a very small lamp rounded by a lot of lens that make it visible until 50 miles). It's inhabited by researchers and the Brasilian Navy. No one can stay on it for more than three months.

Abrolhos.jpg

Fernando de Noronha (Pernambuco), in the Northeast: Brasilian Paradise. This is not the most beautiful part of the island. There is another in my signature's spoiler. It's also a Park, and a limited number of people can stand on the the island per day. It's on AE database :amazing:

Fernando-de-Noronha-6.jpg

Serra da Canastra (Minas Gerais, my county), in the Southeast - transition between Rainforest and Savanah.

home.jpg

Catinga, the Brasilian Desert. Font of poverty for the Northeast region. Incredible books where inspired on that region: Vidas Secas and Morte e Vida Severina.

250px-Nordestepernambucocaatingasecaserg

foto%20da%20capa%20do%20trabalho.jpg

And at last but not least, The Pantanal Matogrossense (Brasilian Swamp), in the Middle West region, in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul states.

I live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia;

Jeddah_Coastline.jpg

Quick things to know:

  • Coastal city, right by the Red sea! Fantastic for diving and stuff
  • the more northern parts of city are newer and more developed (also rather expensive with villas and stuff)
  • The south is Old Jeddah, which is the old historic town - a UNESCO world Heritage site. It's full of traditional Hejazi architecture (Hejaz is the historical name of the region) and and local customs, some of it has been preserved, some it lies in ruins

Traditional_house_in_Al_Balad.JPG

One of the houses in ruin

Ruins_in_Al_Balad.JPG

640px-AlBalad_CoralHouses.JPG

13162.jpg

Throughout the city you can see this historical gates, which draw the boundary of the older parts of town, most have a portrait of the King that found Saudi Arabia and some traditional art/cannons and stuff

2008-dscf3613-1-2.jpg

Like many Middle Eastern cities, Jeddah has dozens of Malls that feature various entertainment options and luxury brands ..etc. as well as traditional shopping centres (called Souqs)

23062014-074905moa-jeddah1.jpg

Mall of Arabia - one of my favorite malls.

Further downtown one of the nicest streets is called Tahlia (Distillation) street, because its near jeddah's giant distilliation plant - lots of shopping centres and interantional food there, icluding IHOP (which opened recently) among others

20140407_174356_saudi_texas_roadhouse.jp

Jeddah holds two Guinness records for some of its iconic installations:

The King Fahd Fountain - the largest of its type and make to look like a giant incense burner

events-bg-jeddah.png

The several art pieces placed around the city that form one of the largest open art galleries in the world:

463248c12f5f64e00b2009a41b8cfa9c.jpg

As you can see, Jeddah is pretty big city with lots to show, but those were a small part of its highlights

Pretty hard to show you my entire country as well, but I will show you the area I'm from.

Houston, Texas, The Energy Capital of the world and the home of the Texas Medical Center. The largest city in Texas, and the 4th largest city in the United States.

22889210589_07b8908c57_o.jpg

Three NASA WB-57s (U-2s) fly in formation over the city. Houston is also home to NASA, and the Johnson Space Center, which is home to both the current and former Mission Control Centers:

Mission-Control-ISS.jpg?1364483372

MedicalCenterAerial.jpg

South of Downtown is the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world with the highest densities of clinical facilities for patient care, basic science, and translational research.

642468285.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=72BFC

AI10_HOU_122.jpg

And of course, the one bit everybody is mostly familiar with, is the hundreds and hundreds of square acres of Oil and Chemical refineries that line the ship channel and the coast.

With this photo, you get a good idea about how large the city limits are, from the entrance of the ship channel, which via buffalo bayou, leads all the way to downtown. Also pictured is the gate which they will be constructing sometime soon at the mouth.

Originally I lived in Quezon City, Philippines from 2002-2016

quezon-city.jpg

Things to remember in my "original city or country"

  • Everyday is traffic day and Not your typical Southern Californian Traffic.
  • Crime rate is pretty fine. except on some areas like Cubao or North Edsa Area
  • Corruption is very distributed here. Even the police!
  • But, the worse thing is, the internet. The peak is only reaching about 2 mbps

Now, we reach my current city, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

saskatoon.jpg

Things to remember in my "current city"

  • Nice Houses everywhere!
  • Nice People
  • Crime rate here is not worse than my original city but the west side of our city is filled with crimes.
  • Overall, I like my city. Except the current backlash of provincial budget

I live on a remote island, Isle of Harris in Scotland.  Perched in the North Atlantic Ocean it is a rugged, contrasting and beautiful place.  There is a population of 1,916 on Harris, and home to the world famous Harris Tweed.

There aren't any cityscapes in Harris to show pictures of, but there is the spectacular scenery and unspoiled beaches:

This is St Clement's Church, was built from about 1520 by Alexander MacLeod of Dunvegan and Harris:

Perfect beaches scatter the West coast of Harris, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean:

Looking towards St John's Newfoundland, Canada (some 3,218km away):

Being on the edge of the North Atlantic ocean, it can get pretty windy here:

Tarbert, the main village on Harris:

The ferry is one of the ways to get here, the other is by a small plane from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen:

Some pretty good gin is made here, infused with sugar kelp:

An of course no place in Scotland is complete without whiskey!  This is a picture of the still-house in the distillery in Tarbert:

In contrast, here are a few pictures of Scotland's two biggest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh:
