Posted ImageSo, it looks like you've decided to start an airline! Go to the "My Airlines Tab" at the top of the Airline Empires homepage and then scroll down to select a world you might want to play in. Enter the name of your airline and click Start New Airline.

Posted ImageHmm, what a hard choice, you have to decide which airplane to start out with. For this tutorial, I am using the A320-200. You also need to select your base city, and for this tutorial, I picked the city of Kelowna, British Columbia.

Remember, you will need to select your own options, and those are just randomly picked. :) Hit the Confirm Aircraft and Home City Selection button when you have chosen! :D

Posted Image

This is the side tab, you might want to get used to it, because in this tutorial, we will be clicking on options in the tutorial without photos, so memorize or scroll back up. :)

Posted ImageClick on the "Browse Airports" button in the sidetab, and here we will select an airport fo us to fly to. There are many options available, we recommend within 500 miles of your base city for your first flight. :) Then Click "List Airports"

Posted ImageYou have a large number of airports that meet your selections, why don't we fly to Calgary! Click the "Lease 1 ___ " button to lease a gate there.

Click on the "Research Route" button on the sidetab. Let's select our two airports and hit Research Route.

Posted Image

Here is the route we selected! :) You can see there are already some seats available on the market, but no problem, let's hit the Competition tab.

Posted ImageLooks like our competitior WestJet is offering routes for $95 on this route. Why don't we sell ours for $85 to make them more attractive to customers? Click on Add Flights now.
Posted ImageYou nee to select your aircraft, and how many times weekly you want it to fly this route. For the tutorial, I offered 10x weekly on our A320 at a price of $85, $10 lower than our competitior. At the bottom, you always want to make sure you have enough slots at both airports. Look's like we are good.

Posted ImageOh No! It seems we offered too many seats on this route, so we are only getting 42% loadfactor, don't worry, there is an easy way to fix this.

Posted ImageGo to the Flight List menu and select a good bit of flights you want to close, then press Close Flights.

Posted ImageNow look, we have green loadfactor on all of our flights! This is great! Hit the Research tab now.

Posted ImageWe are making an $12,000 profit now! Thats a three times increase and we are getting 99% loadfactor. :)

Posted ImageHit the "Routes" button the sidebar now, it seems we are making $11,716 total daily since that is our only route.

Posted ImageNow hit the Aircraft button on the sidebar. Looks good.

NOTICE : DO NOT ORDER A SECOND AIRCRAFT OR MORE UNTIL THE "HOURS AVAILABLE" TAB HITS 0, THIS IS JUST A TUTORIAL, SO I ORDERED WITH STILL 130 LEFT.

Posted Image
Let's order a new plane, shall we? Take a look in the "Order New Aircraft" area and select an aircraft you like. I picked the A319-100 for the tutorial, but you can pick your own.

Posted ImageClick on the Lease button next to the aircraft you want (do not buy until your airline is bigger), and you will be sent to this page. You have to select an engine. I picked the V524-A5, but alas, it is also your own choice. Hit Select Engine now.

Posted ImageHmm, alot of options here. Let's order two of them for 5 years, in Default configuration, with no winglets. AGAIN, you can pick your own choices, then click Negotiate.

Posted ImageSo now the manufacturer will ask for the money. Looks like we have enough money for our two planes. Pay attention to the dates they will arrive at, they don't come immediately, they usually arrrive in real life 8 hours or so.

Click Confirm Lease.

Posted ImageHere we are, looks like everything is going fine. You can find out the date in the upper corner..

Posted ImageClick on the Airline Options button in the sidebar, and you will find our reputation. We just started our airline, so the reputation is low as usual.

Click on the Branding tab.

Posted ImageHere we can personalize our airline. You can mick your IATA code, your slogan, your description, add a logo and livery, or, if you really want to, change your name.

Posted ImageHere in our Human Resources tab, it looks like all our employees are relatively happy, you always have to make sure you pay them enough or they will quit, but make sure not to pay them too much. We are paying them a total of $819,200 which will be paid monthly on the 17th.

Posted ImageHere in the Shared Control tab, if you are on vacation or on a break, you can appoint a user to help you. Make sure you trust this user, and they know about it too. :) (btw too foxy, I removed the shared control after the tutorial :hmmph: ) You can find their number in your browser on the profile page, in the link, as shown above.

Posted ImageClick on the Airline Details page to see your airline's profile. As you can see, it shows the cities we fly to, our fleet, and a route map.

All the other Sidebar buttons I did not show are relatively not neccesities, but they may be useful in growing your airline.

MAKE SURE YOU RUN MORE THAN ONE ROUTE BEFORE YOU LEASE MORE PLANES. MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR AVAILABLE PLANES TO THEIR FULL AMOUNT OF HOURS.

TO LEASE MORE GATES FOR YOUR ROUTES, SIMPLY REPEAT THE TUTORIAL. :)

You may have Compatibility View enabled. Try a different browser.

I just helped a bunch of people start their first airline, and you decide to argue about why the hell I'm using Internet Explorer.

I am disappointed.

To determine how many frequencies I should add to a route, I use the following formula:

F = YDemand * 7 / YSeats.

It's hard to explain how it works, as it just works for me. It will work with most seat configurations, provided that the seat configuration ratio is realistic or close to realistic (It doesn't matter whether the plane has barely any seats or is packed with so many seats that there's barely any legroom).

After I get the result, there's usually decimals with it, so I round up or round down, depending on the result. Then, I increase or decrease frequencies if there's any competition.

I am disappointed.

This is because AE looks hideous on IE (So do most sites on the web).

Try chrome and you'll be surprised at how much better the web looks :)

It is so unbelievably, amazingly, strikingly true, AE looks like vomit on IE compared to Chrome!
