#93841 Maximum runway length

Posted by Starkulf on 20 October 2011 - 07:36 AM in General AE Discussion

I'm sorry, but i agree with Pineair.

Whats the point of showing up London City in the browse airports page, when you won't be able to fly there with an A380?

That's when you can fill in the minimum runway length needed by the a380 and LCY won't show up :hi: :hi:

#93808 Maximum runway length

Posted by Starkulf on 19 October 2011 - 08:00 PM in General AE Discussion

Have to agree with natsirt44 that there is no point in adding this (my opinion).

If the runway length would somehow be linked to the gate lease payment or the popularity of the airport it would make more sense to me.

Also I guess that this is really hard to add to the game since the runway length is the length of the longest runway at that specific airport. This indicates that there are more runways at that airport (real life) and that there probably are shorter runways. Someone would then have to add this for all airports in the game.

However adding the option to browse for airports using a maximum ( already active) and minimum number of miles from the destination would be a nice addition to the search engine :)

#93807 Next theme game idea

Posted by Starkulf on 19 October 2011 - 07:18 PM in General AE Discussion

Is there a way that a theme game could be set up where the number of new and used aircraft is limited per month? In real world airlines can't add 20-50 planes in a month like I have done several times in games. If we could limit to say 5 new and 5 used planes a month in the theme game (slightly higher or lower). Or limit to 10 total aircraft purchases (new or used) a month. That would be cause for some serious thought in aircraft acquisition strategy. Not sure it can be done. But I think that would make for some interesting problems.

Just an idea.

Like the idea  would sure limit the speed in which the airlines grow and would make people think better about the type of planes they buy.
On the other hand if the number of airplanes is lower the competition will probably be less heavy too.. as far as you can call that a bad thing B)

#93805 extend lease payment

Posted by Starkulf on 19 October 2011 - 07:06 PM in General AE Discussion

guys i was wondering if we could pay the lease on like 6-7th day of the month.. cuz usually ill get few -mills and it takes just 2 days (ae time) to recover.. just lost 2 aircraft today.. :P

I usually do not spend any money after the 20th of the month so i have 4 days of profit for the lease payments.. or what you can do is check what the ammount of lease is going to be and make sure you have that money left.

But don't you usually get 1 or 2 warnings before the aircraft is seized? O_O

#93764 Marketing

Posted by Starkulf on 18 October 2011 - 06:57 PM in General AE Discussion

I spent 300m for my thailand airline on beta game, start to think to cancel my monthly marketing :whistling:

300M ????? WOW that's crazy.. Spending 300M requires 300M extra profit to break even without even making more profit.. Guess I'll stick with the employee parties :partyhat:

#93763 Marketing

Posted by Starkulf on 18 October 2011 - 06:52 PM in General AE Discussion

Mind that one day someone will come to grab your route Star :P

Probably will happen as some people are ninja'ing this open world principle but I'm playing it for fun and to build a nice airline don't worry about it that much.. (please do not take this as an invite )

How nice would it be to have an "ambassador" under the human resources tab. he can visit other airlines carrying a nice big envelope to encourage them to find other routes :whistling:

#93742 Marketing

Posted by Starkulf on 18 October 2011 - 12:13 PM in General AE Discussion

However marketing increases overall rep. Although this may have some effect on routes, (I assume) individual route rep remains the most important factor to get the advantages of greater rep, therefore the costs of marketing are not worth it.

Thanks that's what I thought

Also I am not on competitive routes so guess Ill use the money to throw parties for the staff :partyhat:

I don't use the marketing tab as off now because I don't really understand what it does.

Can anyone tell me what the advantage of marketing is?

Thanks :afro:

#93677 HQ of other players visible?

Posted by Starkulf on 17 October 2011 - 05:32 PM in General AE Discussion

When you start, you can see how many airlines have hubs at your airport, and how many gates are free.

This gives you a good impression of where the smaller airports are :)

Good one, never really paid attention to that :wallbash:

#93676 HQ of other players visible?

Posted by Starkulf on 17 October 2011 - 05:31 PM in General AE Discussion

Thanks for the replies my airline is doing pretty good now and continues to grow. I do like this beta 3.1 a lot, the other worlds were too easy after a while and i usually stopped playing because I got bored.

My fav airport for HQ is EYW because of its runway restrictions ( Longest runway 4,801 ft). Figured I would try something different this time and it worked out

#93632 HQ of other players visible?

Posted by Starkulf on 16 October 2011 - 09:57 PM in General AE Discussion

Search medium airports to start, it's hard to you make a HQ/HUB in a big airport.

Thanks for the reply. Problem was that I did have major airports before and that did not work out so now I have a medium airport.
Also found out that the other player does not have his HQ in "my" aiport, forgot about the open world thing O_O

Anyway guess its not possible to check this before you start the game

#93615 HQ of other players visible?

Posted by Starkulf on 16 October 2011 - 02:01 PM in General AE Discussion

Just a quick question.. been struggling with the 3.1 open world for a while now and I finally got an airline that is making profit and is slowly growing. ( took me about 5 tries.. noob)
Now it seems that I my HQ is at an airport where a big player has his HQ This is kinda annoying since he is now taking over my routes and I am in the starting phase. I understand that this is part of the game but would it be possible to find out what airports already have a HQ when you start your airline?
I know in the first screen it shows you if there are hubs at an airport but this does not tell you if there are HQ's.

Please let me know

Thanks

#91002 Daily pax

Posted by Starkulf on 27 August 2011 - 09:09 PM in Game Discussion (AE14 - Realistic World - 1985)

Thanks for the reply

1. I understand that lower prices attract more passengers but this way the number of daily passengers is more an "estimate" than a demand. The reason why I'm asking about this is that it is hard to compete with other people if you do not have a maximum of passengers. I am finding this out now with an airline that is on some of my routes. we are well over the max but both of us still have a 100% load factor. Maybe there should be a maximum of "passing trade" to make it more realistic and competitive.

2. This is still strange although I understand what you mean. This creates airlines to buy bigger planes on smaller routes which in turn creates more destinations per airline. Good to here though that having a daily flight will get you more reputation in the new version

#90938 Awesome livery's

Posted by Starkulf on 27 August 2011 - 02:24 PM in Logo / Livery Requests

Definitely in need of an awesome livery

Was thinking about the AA livery but base color white instead of the metal look and the three stripes in the middle reversed. so red on top then white and then blue.

Also Would like some orange like on the engines and a pic of a lion (was thinking on the tail)?
Lion livery

NOt sure what it is going to look like so I will leave you with all the room you need for improvements/ideas etc..

thanks

#90929 Daily pax

Posted by Starkulf on 27 August 2011 - 01:18 PM in Game Discussion (AE14 - Realistic World - 1985)

I have two questions about the daily passenger demand that I couldn't find being posted before..(and I did look :book: for them)

- How is it possible to have a 100 load factor if you have more capacity than demand and you are the only one flying on that route. For example a route that has a daily demand of 300 can still have a 100% load factor and be profitable if I give it a capacity of 400.

- If the daily demand would be 40 seats than technically I would have to use an aircraft close to that number. However if I choose to fly once a week with a 280 seats aircraft it divides it over the days and gives me a 100% daily load factor. Is this for a specific reason? It just seems a little "strange" to me.

Thanks again people

#90852 minimun runwaylength

Posted by Starkulf on 26 August 2011 - 07:18 PM in Game Discussion (AE14 - Realistic World - 1985)

I know right shoot me for telling :whip: guess its the "realistic world" thing that made me do it...

thanks for the replies people :salute:

#90726 minimun runwaylength

Posted by Starkulf on 25 August 2011 - 06:45 PM in Game Discussion (AE14 - Realistic World - 1985)

Not sure if anyone posted anything about this before and I wasn't sure if I would either.

Having a bit of an issue. One of my destinations has an extremely short runway, meaning not all aircraft (almost none ) is able to land/take off here. However if I assign an aircraft that does meet the requirements and later change all its routes to a certain other aircraft that does not meet the requirements it lets me do it.

THe big advantage is that it doubles the amount of passengers so lower cost more profit.. but I feel like I'm cheating and thats where the issue kicks in...

Should I choose profit  or fair play :innocent:

#86047 any advantage of having hubs?

Posted by Starkulf on 19 June 2011 - 09:07 AM in (AE4) 1990-2015

Thanks, I'll go try and find out what it does for me. Guess you cant really notice anything if you've only built three hubs.

#85990 any advantage of having hubs?

Posted by Starkulf on 18 June 2011 - 09:56 PM in (AE4) 1990-2015

I have been looking around to find an advantage of having a hub but I don't really see one. Reading all the topics about this subject don't give me any advantages so if there are any advantages please name them.

A hub allows you to have connecting passengers ----> Connecting passengers only pay half of regular passengers -----> having a hub doubles the rental fee per gate.
So I pay more and earn less??

Isn't it smarter to play with the ticket prices and create a 100% or close to 100% load factor (depending on profit) ?
