#138303 Your longest flight on FS

Posted by Keelung on 07 February 2013 - 09:53 AM in Flight Simulation

I did numerous long-haul flights in FSX, TPE-LAX,TPE-SFO,TPE-EWR, TPE-YVR, TPE-KIX-JFK, TPE-NRT-HNL, TPE-LHR, TPE-FRA, TPE-CDG, TPE-AMS and a lot more that I can't remember on EVA Air and China Airliens. I always do it before sleep, so I could just set it on autopilot and land the next day. Sometimes sh%t happens, things fail and the plane crashes. I don't do it anymore, it's a waste of time and electricity.

#148112 What's the best replacement for A340-200?

Posted by Keelung on 26 July 2013 - 02:47 PM in New Players and Questions

The Airbus A350-900R is the best option. Considering that both the A340-200 and A350-900® has the same maximum seat count of 420, similar fuel flow at around 40,000, but with the A350-900R flying at a faster speed at 559 and quicker turn-around time of 60 minutes as compared with speed at 476~480 and 90 minutes turn-around time of the A340-200. The closest competitor is the Boeing 787-9 at a lower speed of 497, at a lower price. I don't agree with all the AE aircraft specs, however.

#139517 Vintage livery and logo for Air Formosa

Posted by Keelung on 02 March 2013 - 03:53 PM in Logo / Livery Requests

I've recently restarted Air Formosa in S3A and I'm looking to have a logo and livery that captures the essence of vintage design from the 1970~1990. Thank you!

#142806 Solution to airport congestion (no gates available)

Posted by Keelung on 05 May 2013 - 03:25 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

Like I said on different threads for a countless number of times since this has been brought up repeatedly that the only solution to this is to replace the gate system that we have now that gives you 50 slots when you only need a couple to the system in the real world where international airports or airports with high traffic would have a regulated slots system which you can buy/sell/lease individual slots where one slot can only be used for one flight either arriving or departing. That means you need two slots for a return flight and this might be a tedious task but we can have an automatic slot leasing/procurement system while we are adding flights and it will perform in the same way as the system we have now and this would only apply to the airports with IATA Level 3( Coordinated Airport ) standing http://en.wikipedia....ki/Landing_slot . Applying this in AE4 would free up lots of unused slots and save some insignificant money for the airlines, providing others with the opportunity to expand their operations to these high-traffic airports and allow more competition, with the fundamental aim to make AE more realistic.

#143835 Solution to airport congestion (no gates available)

Posted by Keelung on 23 May 2013 - 03:18 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

This idea of charging airlines by the turn around time for using the gates has been suggested (by me actually) quite some time ago. It's under consideration and I think it's one of the solution to the imbalance. Also I have to reiterate again, landing rights/slots have to be separated from gate usage. Please search the forums for my previous posts 'cause I don't feel like typing my idea for the billionth time.

Gates and slots are two different issues. We can use the turn around time to calculate how much should be charged to a single flight.

#139029 Renaming to Sheikh Zayed Airlines - Logo and Livery request

Posted by Keelung on 20 February 2013 - 05:31 PM in Logo / Livery Requests

In honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, father of the United Arab Emirates, Rapid Air has decided to rename itself as Sheikh Zayed Airlines in remembrance of this great leader. We would like the livery and logo to be in U.A.E. colors with a royal touch, and let your imagination run wild! Thank You.

#137712 Removal of Google Maps from Airline Summary

Posted by Keelung on 29 January 2013 - 07:03 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

I do use GC maps though, but its rather inconvenient as I would mostly view My routes page and not the alliance map. Just wondering if we can turn it off for good and not affect the other functions.

#137626 Removal of Google Maps from Airline Summary

Posted by Keelung on 28 January 2013 - 07:04 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

When our airlines get big with a lot of routes, it will be a nightmare to open the Airline Summary page as the computer will be lagging just trying to compute and pin-point the routes on Google Maps provided. I don't think it makes sense to have Google Maps in the Airline Summary page as we already have them on the My Routes page and Alliance Routes page where in both cases there will be no problem loading. Maybe being a "summary" of the airline, players would want to have that Google Maps beside just for the feel of it, but is it possible if we could have a function in the settings where we can choose to switch it off. It is getting seriously annoying when I'm trying to view the average age of aircraft as it is not clear enough in the Aircraft page and loading the Airline Summary page would just cause my browser to crash. Thank you!

#139299 Removal of co-manager's power to cease operations

Posted by Keelung on 25 February 2013 - 12:38 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

After the horror (or brilliant surprise) I've experienced through the sudden closure of my airline, Rapid Air in R5, while I was adding flights, I would like to suggest an alteration to the system of Shared Control where before the control is assigned to another player, the player who owns the airline would have simple choices where he can select restrictions to the another player like the removal of right to cease airline operations, removal of right to issue bonds, removal of right to leave airline alliance (or join one) and so on. Once the restrictions have been made and control has been given, nothing can be changed unless the co-manager is removed and the terms should then be chosen again. This would prevent the co-manager from doing anything that the owner does not want to to the airline and stop any unhappiness from growing within the community.

You're right about that, but you never know who's going to change their mind out of a sudden.

#138949 Reduced gate costs for regional airlines

That's how it works in real life.

#138901 Reduced gate costs for regional airlines

Posted by Keelung on 18 February 2013 - 06:31 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

I believe the best way to solve this problem is by splitting the idea of us now leasing gates (or building them) which would give us 50 slots per gate into landing slots, the tonnage, turnaround time needed for an aircraft and the size category its in. This means depending on the category and weight of the aircraft, a big, heavy plane like the Boeing 747-400 would have to pay a lot more than a Bombardier CRJ-200 landing in JFK due to its wing size and weight, and while they are being parked at the gates, the 747 would be charged more because of its wing size requiring more space and its lengthy turnaround time as compared to the CRJ-200. This is going to complicate things a lot but I believe its the only way out.

#139512 realistic

Posted by Keelung on 02 March 2013 - 01:30 PM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

Maybe we can set up a specific AE world for this, the "f$%king" hard world where fuel fluctuates according to historical figures and maybe even future projections and passengers would rather opt to take another airline if your planes are too crammed.

Simple, just choose the most expensive and tag the oil price to that historical data  :P

#140433 Progressive offering of engines

Posted by Keelung on 26 March 2013 - 08:57 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

For many aircraft types there are many engine options and they are all offered at once the type is placed on market. However, many engine options are only certified in a later stage. For example, the Airbus A320-200 was introduced with the CFM56-5A1 certified in 1988 and IAE V2500-A1 certified in 1989. Later the CFM56-5A3 was certified in 1990, IAE V2527-A5 in 1993, CFM56-5B4 in 1995, IAE V2527E-A5 in 1995 and lastly CFM56-5B6 in 2006.

What I'm suggesting is that airlines can only order aircraft with a particular engine option maybe a year or two before it is certified and the aircraft can only be delivered after the certification date. So this means that airlines can only make do with the present engine options offered at the time and would have to wait for other new options if they wanted them instead. This wouldn't make the system complicated, it will be like introducing a new aircraft type. News of the engine option being offered would be announced and that option would appear on the choosing engine type page. I'm sure this would make the game a little more interesting!

Private games will take up too much precious server space that we are lacking right now, but maybe in the future.

Restructuring an airline in AE is easy, it's impossible to go bust unless you are really terrible at this.
