Alternative to starting aircraft

03 March 2012 - 02:32 PM

I must admit I'm not too huge a fan of the concept of "starting aircraft", because what happens towards the end of a game is that a start-up airline will end up starting off with a three-year-old aircraft that ended production decades ago. Take R5, for instance: a player joins the game late, let's say in 2025, and chooses the 737-300. He or she receives a three-year-old 737-300, manufactured in 2022. The problem there is that 737-300 production ended in 1999.

What I propose is starting off with a slightly larger budget - something in the range of 10 to 15 million - and no aircraft. This will allow start-up airlines to order the aircraft they would like to start off with, whether they be new or used. That way we can avoid having airlines start off with aircraft that have been long out of production, which is unrealistic and can make it difficult to find other used examples.

Airbus A310-300?

14 January 2012 - 11:01 AM

The A310-300 is listed as entering service sometime in 1983 (though this is actually incorrect as far as I know, but that's a different issue). It's now June 1984 - when will it be offered, if ever?

Other taxes and fees?

09 January 2012 - 05:45 AM

What are the "other taxes and fees" included in the cost breakdown for each route? I find that while larger aircraft tend to be fine with them, it's very hard to make a profit using smaller aircraft due to these "other" costs. These fees only count for 10% of the costs on, for instance, my ALG-HKG route operated with a 747SP, but count for 70% of the costs on AAE-DJE operated by a DHC-6 Twin Otter, making it scarcely profitable even though the DHC-6 uses very little fuel.

Fokker F28 and Yakovlev Yak-42 fuel flow

20 December 2011 - 05:23 AM

I know a lot of aircraft have had their fuel flow figures revised in the last couple of weeks and that a full review will be coming soon, but the fuel flow figures for the F28 (especially the MK4000) and Yak-42 are clearly way too high. These aircraft have been entering service in R2 where it is now the late 70's and no one's flying them as it's simply impossible to operate either aircraft without making losses. Unfortunately I don't have any figures for either aircraft, but could we please have the fuel figures reduced to levels where it'll at least be possible to operate these planes profitably? The figures for the MK4000 and Yak-42 seem to be around double what they should be based on their passenger capacities and engines, and those for the MK3000 seem too high as well. :/ Thanks.

Logo/livery request for Air Plutonium

09 December 2011 - 08:58 AM

Airline name: Air Plutonium
World: R2
Base: Algiers
Aircraft: Boeing 707 or 737-200
Color scheme: Black and yellow

I've attached my current makeshift logo for reference - I'd like to keep the "radioactive" logo as part of the new logo, but don't really want the text. Please try and make it fit in with the radioactivity theme. :P Thanks!
