I think it's unrealistic competition and something should be done about it. Perhaps I should dedicate 20 aircraft to each of the most popular routes making the capacity about 10x the demand for the route. Let's put 20 747s on JFK-LAX so we can offer 60 daily flights. Just competition right?
The sim itself isn't realistic per se in the first place. I mean who can start an airline with 1 leased 737 and end with dozens of 777s and A330s at the end of year 1?
And as maestro69 said, just be glad you didn't play a few years back. Either fight back or leave and grow somewhere else. That's most of the difficulty in this game, not running it.
As for the real world, ever hear of Reno Air? How about Northwest Airlines? Look it up...
