United World Limited, is pleased to announce the beginning of a new era for the company. After fast aggressive expansion by the company, costly inefficient practices were developed i.e. underutilised aircraft.
After extensive research, streamling is beginning to occur fleet wise. The following is the retirement plan for the aircraft:
BAC 1-11 - retired by March 1973, replaced by Boeing 737-200
DC9-10 - retired by September 1972 replaced by Douglas DC9-40
DC9-30 - retired by October 1972 replaced by Douglas DC9-40
DC8-50 - retired by January 1974 (no replacement)
Viscount - retired by April 1972 (no replacement)
L-188 - retired by April 1972 (no replacement)
727-100 - retired by January 1974 replaced by Boeing 727-200
Expected fleet as of February 1974:
Boeing 737-200/25 4 BAC1-11 replacements, 5 for expansion
Boeing 727-200/18 11 727-100 replacements, no fleet expansion
Boeing 747-200/9 fleet expansion
Douglas DC9-40/30 10 DC9-10 replacement, 12 DC9-30 replacement, 6 for expansion
Douglas DC10-10/5 3 for expansion
Fokker F-27/13 no replacements, no expansion
