Figuring out the VC-10

One of the aircraft I've had a hard time making a decent profit on is the VC-10 and Super VC-10.  The fuel consumption is very high and the passenger loads are low.  There is a similar issue with the 707-400 series.  Has anyone found a way to make them work reasonably well?  Is there a specific length of route coupled with a sweet spot for passenger config?  I'd love to know how I can better utilize this aircraft in future games.


DAL doesn't allow flights

DAL seems to have open gate and a reasonable runway size, but aircraft that are more than capable of flying routes in can't seem to be added.  For example, YYZ-DAL has no airlines on it and is only just over 1000km away, but the Trident 3B - which should be more than capable of the trip - or the 737-200 cannot be flown on this route.  Similar story with YYC-DAL.  Is there a bug with this airport?
