if you order preorder new aircraft, then order an older aircraft in the same series, the older aircraft will be delivered after the preordered aircraft. So you will sit for like a year with no deliveries. I had this issue pre-ordering the MD-83, then ordering MD-82 to be delivered in the meantime, but instead they came after all the MD-83 are delivered. Just had the same thing happen with 767-200 and 200ER. What should happen is that the aircraft currently in production is delivered before the aircraft that are not in production yet.
