Starting out

27 November 2014 - 03:25 AM

Here's a basic guide on how to start out.

  • Start in a semi-major airport like FRA, ORY or ARN
  • Choose short haul routes with a at least 300 demand for economy.
  • Choose a short ranged aircraft that has been on the market for a long time like B737 Family or the A320 Family.
  • Lease a few of them, and configure all the seats to economy class.
  • Create very basic IFE and IFS which have a rating of about 2 stars.
  • Try to avoid routes which have more than twice the seats on the market than the demand.
  • Also avoid routes with competitors which have prices set to less than 70% of the default price.
  • Try to find gold mines where none of the rules above are violated. eg. I found ATL- CDG and FRA - AMS All are major airports, but there isn't much competition.
  • Avoid immensely popular airports like LHR.
  • Lower prices to beat competitors.
  • Once you have slightly more money, lease a few A332s and operate medium-haul flights with better IFE and IFS as well as First and Business class, applying the same rules as above.
