In Topic: give away airline, ranked #4th

11 March 2013 - 09:57 PM

hi docriodain,

thx for the compliment, I have to thank all the people that helped with tutorials, faqs, and random posts, the forum is quite rich in information and I hope the community continues with such positive atmosphere.

Emiel, I'll give you access to the airline, so for now I'll close the thread.

In Topic: After you start making money and have enough for planes

I think the best option is to buy when you have money to buy 51 aircraft at once

then you get the best possible deal

I still don't have enough experience, but I think it's not interesting to buy aircraft you are already leasing, because it's a lot cheaper to buy them in bulk from factory

but I still have to figure out if after X years it pays off to buy the aircraft and this way you don't loose the money that you spent in the lease payments.

In Topic: Best Regional Plane

hs748 is a good regional turboprop for routes with lower demand presently in R3

I didn't buy any more of them because I was busy enough ordering larger aircraft and filling routes

the DC9 may be ok-ish, but I think the 737-200 adv is much better, compared to the dc9-50 fuel flow is 25% lower, and range is 2000mi, compared to 950mi for the dc9, price is similar, and fuel flow is lower than any dc9 in any case, so it's more efficient to fly a 737-200 adv even with a partial load

the dc9 family is very limited in range and IMHO they become obsolete very quickly

I'm keeping them for now because the lease is very cheap

CRJ seems to be better overall, plus you have more flexibility regarding pax and range in the same family, while if you opt for embraer you only have the 35-50 pax family and then the 70+ family, but you would have to use 2 different families.

In Topic: leasing contract length

30 January 2013 - 01:34 PM

Leasing for 11 years gives you the best discount. Once the aircraft is delivered (with a 10 year lease), extending the lease by one more year gives you the maximum discount. Once you hit an 11 year lease contract no more discounts will be given

thx for the tip, it really works

I wanted to extend some of the first aircraft I bought and I noticed that it saves some money, but I didn't know you could also do it with just-delivered aircraft

but... don't do it blindly because if the aircraft is increasing its value due to demand... the lease can become more expensive:

-------------------------------------------

Extend Lease
You will receive a discount of 3% off the monthly rate per year for the total length of the lease (max 30% discount).

With an extension of 1 year, your new monthly leasing cost for this aircraft will be $342,222. Do you want to proceed?

--------------------------------------------

but my current deal is

Lessor: System
Monthly Cost: $325,926
Lease Term: May 18, 1981 - May 18, 1991 (10 years),
