Number of destination limit

12 November 2013 - 08:06 AM

This may have all ready been mentioned, but I didn't see it.

I'd like to see a world with a restriction on the number of destinations an airline could have.  With a limit of around 150 destinations, there are enough routes to be flown that an airline could take the time to focus on being more competitive on certain routes as well as introducing the concept of planning where an airline wants to fly instead of flying EVERYWHERE.

That would help regional airlines have a better chance of growing more without being squashed out of most markets.  It would also allow those who want to simulate real airlines have more realistic opportunities.

Undercutting

Are there any options for a flight that once made, say $50k per day, that keeps getting undercut to the point of making just a few k, or less, per day.  It seems, once competition hits, the prices drop a few times per day until you're charging $49 for a 5,000 mile flight.  The longer the worlds progress the more people jump on even the most remote routes and kill the profitability.  When I have a few thousand routes, it's just seems near impossible to keep up with all the routes.

Am I missing something, or just not devoting enough time to the game?  This is usually what makes me close down my airline until I get a new idea to try.  I've played 5 or 6 worlds over the past couple of years, but just find it impossible to spend enough time to keep routes competitive (and I've spent what I thought was way too much time per day trying to keep up).

Are there any ways to keep a route from dropping to a penny per mile?

Thanks for any info.

What's the point?

Can someone explain to me what I'm missing...I don't get what the point of the game is. After the first few years of a world most flights are full of competition and the only thing left to do is check your routes every day to see if someone is beating your price. You adjust your price only to have your price beaten the next day. With so many flights, and a slow server most of the time, it takes way too much time to adjust all the prices that are being beat.
So, even with the most efficient planes, I drop my price to a level that can't be beat and still make a profit so I don't have to check the prices...only to see someone has beaten my price and is certainly operating that route at a loss.
So, what's the point? I can get my airlines in the top 10 or 20, but don't care to consume so much of my time with a game (one that's not even close to realistic and one whose IFS system is wacky, to say the least) just adjusting prices all day.
Is the point just to adjust and re-adjust prices for the last 30-35 years of a world? And to find what few routes you can still make a profit on?
I'm a rather new player and losing interest fast and would love some insight as to how I can make the most of the game.

Thanks for any responses!
