flyAmerica logo & livery request

19 August 2011 - 03:54 AM

Hello, everyone,
Just putting in a livery request for flyAmerica (my AE1 airline), in case anyone has some spare time to kill making liveries. (Ordinarily, I would make my own using Photoshop and FS9, but I recently switched to a Mac so... yeah, that rules out Flight Sim.)

I'd really appreciate it if someone could make a logo and a livery.

The logo is pretty simple; I'd love it if it could be simple, like my old AE airline flyBritannia's US subsidiary:

For the livery, I'd love something along the lines of the modern Aeroflot livery

Silver body, with a similar swooping design that runs along the length of the plane. Only a little more... American-ized? It doesn't have to scream patriotism, but... well, haha, I'll leave it to your creativity :P

And yes, there are cookies for all who participate:

Thanks in advance :)

Move all flights to [plane] feature

11 February 2011 - 09:37 PM

Since aircraft age now plays a role in our airline's reputation (and, as a side note, I think that maintenance fees should increase as the plane gets older), I'd like to see a feature where I could either select all flights from one plane (e.g. on an aircraft's 'flights' page, a box that acts as a "select all" button), or have a way to select all flights to a destination (e.g. all flights going to St. Petersberg).

I think this would make it easier to switch to a newer fleet, which in turn would help your airline's reputation.

Direct Selling

10 February 2011 - 04:15 AM

I think this idea has been toyed around with for a while, and I know you developers are probably quite exhausted after all the work that went into making 3.1! (So maybe this will be something to look into for the future? :P)

The game, I think, has all of the basics set up to cope with such a system; the aircraft detail pages tell you who owns the plane, who owned it before, and what it's worth.

This would sort of act as a balance to the used plane market.

Let's say I have a nice shiny new Trident 3 (which I do, in 3.1 Realistic). I like the plane quite a lot, and it can be profitable on shorter flights. But it's currently sitting on the ground, doing nothing (because I don't really have anywhere to send it). I bought it at full price, because I vastly overestimated the number of flights I needed to run. So now, it's just sitting on the tarmac (or in an aircraft hangar) costing me $308,000 per month in maintenance fees, etc.

If I sell to the Used Plane market, the broker takes off a fee of 5%, but sells for full price. When someone else wants to buy the plane, they pay full price + 5%.

But let's say that there's a different system. Let's say I jump onto the AE3.1 forum, into a special "Looking to Buy a Plane?" forum, where I can post a topic saying, "I've got this plane, here's what I'm willing to sell it for." Then, if someone wants to buy it, they can make me an offer (or it could be first come, first serve).

Cuts out the middle man, smaller airlines can get good deals on planes that larger airlines don't need anymore, and everyone goes home happy. Well, except maybe the used plane brokerage.

flyBritannia Shuts Down

21 September 2010 - 01:50 AM

flyBritannia has ceased operations after six very profitable years in the airline industry.

When contacted for further information, this reporter was forwarded to various public relations officials within the airline; however, no definitive reason was given.

All rented airport gates were returned. Leased aircraft contracts were either terminated or purchased and then resold. All aircraft formerly owned by the airline were also sold to the broker. The airline is also selling off 11 terminals (a total of roughly 550 slots) at a grand total of just over $500 million.

Despite flyBritannia's cessation of operations, we received word from a reputable source that the EuroSky Alliance -- founded by flyBritannia and ranked as the world's #2 alliance -- should live on.

Change to aircraft filter

02 September 2010 - 03:21 AM

The proposed change, put forth in this post, would affect the parameters of the filters on the "Aircraft Overview" page in all game worlds.

The current system, although effective, is deemed, by this user, to be too specific. The proposed change would make it easier to find aircraft by manufacturer or series.

At present, the filter is very specific. For example, "707-320C" and "ATR-42-400."

The proposed system would make it easier to find planes by series or manufacturer. The current box would be revised to simply show the series -- for example, "747 Series," "A300 Series," or "CRJ Series." When any one of those options is selected, it filters the visible craft in the list to those in that series. (So if you chose "747 Series," for example, it would show you all of the 741's, 742B/C's, 743's, 744's, and 744D's that you own.) A section header would be added to each specific design, for example, "747-100" as a header followed by all -100's, "747-200" as a header followed by all -200b & C's, et cetera.

A second box would then be added next to the current filter box. This would allow you to filter out by company -- e.g. Airbus, ATR, Boeing, et cetera. When you filter by this, again, you would have a header with the series (e.g. "A300 Series" or "747 Series," et alia).
