Hi,
I love this game, and I purchased YAK-42 aircrafts, but fuel burn is sooooo high, I cant believe its true!
For example, DME to AMS is 1350 miles, and asked for over 1000 daily passangers. There was no competition,
I place only 1 flight per week with the YAK-42 and my profit is 96$.
Ticket Revenue $22,732
Fuel Costs -$20,626
I made the ticket prices 663$ per pax, (because if it was $660 I am down $-8 per day, and if i put $664 for the ticket, then only 70% pax and im down again).
How can this be true, how can that airplane have such a high fuel burn? There are some airlines still flying with that airplane, I know its old and uses
too much fuel, but it can't be this much,
Extremely high fuel burn

It's a 30 year old airplane, so what do you expect? Engine and airframe technology wasn't up to modern standards, especially in the USSR.

Aircraft like this, and the VC10s, tridents and 707s were from an era where air travel was expensive and fuel not an issue.
I suggest you try a younger generation of aircraft. If you really want, I can double check the figures, but I doubt they'll be too out.

If you look at the Real (not AE) used aircraft market, there are YAK 42s going for $250000. Thats not a lot, and it just shows how awful an aircraft it is compared to modern ones

Ah yes, okay thank you all!
YEs indeed, Ive flown with the VC 10 too and it was very very difficult to make profit, lol,
It's nice that we have an option to purchase those aircrafts, even though they are hungry for fuel lol.
Thanks

These aircraft can turn a reasonable profit when the first come out, but they can be quickly outdone by more efficient competition. The VC10 was built for the hot and high runways of the British Empire routes, and fuel economy wasn't in mind. The IL62 was produced in russia with a state subsidised vast national airline which pretty much only bought russian.
These two factors aren't modelled in AE which is why those aircraft feel a little pointless. I use the VC10 on african routes in 1980s games for realism though!
