There will be two types of games: open worlds (odd-numbered) and realistic worlds (even-numbered):
Open Worlds
- no restrictions or penalties on flights or hubs outside of one's home country
- higher gate lease limits (up to 40% of airport, or 75% if it's your hub)
- AE1 (1980-2000) (Starting A/C: DHC-7 or F-27)
- AE3 (1990-2010) (Starting A/C: ATR-42-400 or
Q200Q300)
Realistic Worlds
Runway slots replace the gate system (for future additions)- Restrictions on flights to foreign countries (traffic rights)
- More taxes and route startup fees
- AE2 (1985-2005) (Starting A/C: ATR-42-300 or Q100)
- AE4 (1995-2015) (Starting A/C: CRJ-100 or Saab 2000)
Additions and Changes Since the Beta (for all worlds)
- The starting aircraft is now leased, not owned. Starting cash is still $5 million.
- Aircraft now have 140 weekly flying hours available (20 hours a day) instead of 160.
- Airlines cannot pay for aircraft lease charges if cash is negative. After three consecutive warnings for nonpayment, the aircraft will be seized by the lessor.
- If you do not have enough cash to take delivery of purchased aircraft, the delivery will be delayed for a week (repeat if still not enough cash).
- Employee salaries have been increased for more realism.
