Lower initial costs for small cities

At this time I want to build a terminal at say Strasborg but ....
Initial Construction Fees: $50,000,000 Gate Construction Fees (5 * $5,000,000): $25,000,000Total Upfront Cost: $75,086,653
The Strasbourg airport board is willing to offer each gate at a 10% discount for a total price of $15,597 per month.
This would bring your monthly gate payments to $77,987 plus the one-time $75,086,653 administration fee.
--------------------------------------------------------
This is totally out of proportion to the city size. My suggestions ...
1) An exponential reduction in costs with relation to the gate leasing charges.
2) for cities below a certain amount of traffic, Initial Construction fee's 5 million , Gate construction fee's 500k per gate.
3) Cities with gates costs 300k and above leave as is
Cities with gate costs 100 -> 299k half of what it is now
Cities with gates costs 0 -> 99k half of that again or even less
something along those lines?
This would help in 2 ways
a) People wanting to operate from smaller cities can do so much cheaper. Not everyone playing this game want's to be number 1 or fly A380's. Some people want to mirror as much as they can real commuter flight schedules and routes.
Bigger airlines would not need to lease so many smaller city gates , they can just buy a terminal which in turn leaves more on the market for smaller airlines.
-----------
I think from a programming view and server load maybe a hardcoded value like in option 3 would be better but you could go all the way and make it variable depending on gate costs at any given airport

So lets take a look at FRA: There are about 60.000.000 passengers/year (I added the number of passengers on the airport information page). The initial terminal build cost equals 50,000,000, a gate costs 5,000,000.
Calculate something:
- 50,000,000 $ / 60,000,000 passengers = 0,83 $
- 5,000,000 $ / 60,000,000 passengers = 0,08 $
So now take a look at Strasbourg (7,600,000 passengers), apply the same factors:
- 0,83 $ x 7,600,000 = 6,308,000 $
- 0,08 $ x 7,600,000 = 608,000 $
For a terminal with 5 gates we have:
6,308,000 + 5 x 608,000 = 9,348,000 $ total build costs in Strasbourg.
Further suggestions/remarks? If not I will implement it today, there not to much code to change

I'm thinking about a "price per customer"-model.
That sounds good. In any case it is alot better than the current situation

HUB costs will also be percentage? at the moment they are 500k per gate. This also seems unfair for hubbing smaller cities :eureka:

Update: Integrated this for terminals, hubs will follow tomorrow, feeling tired now
Well goodnight.
Maybe tomorrow you can look at the variables Total upfront cost should be 33 + 16 = 49 and not 22.7 :eureka:
Initial Construction Fees: $33,337,285.32 Gate Construction Fees (5 * $3,213,232.32): $16,066,162Total Upfront Cost: $22,733,619
The London Gatwick airport board is willing to offer each gate for a total price of $316,489 per month.
This would bring your monthly gate payments to $1,582,443 plus the one-time $22,733,619 administration fee

Should be fixed now.
That's better Anyway the new system should help players lower in the ranks as the hurdle to buy a terminal is lower.....
It's getting alot better and fairer for everyone!

When I try to add gates to a terminal I already had before you made these changes I get the following.
Initial Construction Fees: $60,467,481.21 Gate Construction Fees (10 * $5,828,190.96): $58,281,909.60Total Upfront Cost: $70,375,405.84
The London Heathrow airport board is willing to offer each gate for a total price of $542,819 per month.
This would bring your monthly gate payments to $5,428,191 plus the one-time $70,375,405.84 administration fee.

As it was before / 5 gates at FRA to make a hub is $2.5m this is too low if it cost you $200m for a terminal, then to hub it sould be 10%.
Just my 2p worth.
