What is a gate hogger? Is this why some city's got negative number of gates?

It's buying up the last 20-30 gates left in a city and running several Beech 1900s or J31s from those gates to the closest city to tie them up. Usually you can spot the culprits because their frequencies can run upwards of 50+ or so in a single city pair.

The objective is not to make money, it's to keep the market closed from honest competitors.

The main objective is to keep the gates for future use. An airline needs gates to expand and with no gates there is no expansion. It is not to lock others out, but thinking ahead for the future.
