Might be a good idea for v3

start with a smaller amount of gates at each airport than right now, but each year the game goes on, each airport adds more gates to rent, therefore allowing airlines to expand over time. i think this could help a little with the gate hogging problem, in addition to helping out airlines with large hubs and noobs who are just starting out and want to expand at the larger airports

Problem is that you end up having one airline take up all the gates...less to share, easier to keep. Good idea in theory...but the people that play on here aren't exactly philantropists

Some...not all And i know of few that give gates freely away esp.

Put a cap on the gates you can rent, like terminals you can build and bobs your uncle WSHNat's idea works a treat.
