Has anyone tried the strategy of buying planes and immediately selling them on the used market for a tidy profit? Example:
I can buy 200 747-300s for a negotiated price of $181,375,000 each and sell each one after delivery for $229,425,000. This means a per plane profit of $48 million.
If I repeat this across every single aircraft type this would easily be millions of dollars in my pockets. Has anyone tried this before? Is this intended game behavior?

Resale arbitrage?

Thats an interesting point. I'm assuming its rarely used due to the amount of capital needed to pull it off but should work

I feel like it would be more profitable to just put those planes on a route if you are able to expand, but if you've managed to saturate all of the airports in your country and don't feel like abusing connecting passengers, then I suppose that is a way to make profits lol
This would indirectly help any airline trying to expand as well - suddenly having a bunch of planes in the used plane market would let anyone who has a decent amount of cash on hand a great way to skip delivery times.

This does explain why some large airlines in game are ordering large numbers of airplanes and immediately selling them.

The most likely explanation is that these airlines are "feeding" planes to the used plane market for someone else, or even a second airline owned by the same player. After all, A380's and 747s are always in short supply.

Sounds like it would work, but you would first need to create a massive airline to get enough cash to order 200 747's at once. This does seem like something that should be fixed, though.
