Aircraft was a CRJ-200. Media keeps showing stock photos of a -700.

a -200?
hmmm....
Fox News just showed an interview with a witness who said he "saw a flash of light, heard the explosion, and saw a plume of smoke." I don't know if this was the crash itself, or while the plane was flying.

A -200 delivered in 2001 means a tail number in the late 72xx - early 73xx built. I`ll know more tomorrow at work.
A crash at right after t/o usualy means loss of all engines or aircraft out of cg.

They're looking at whether the pilots took off on the wrong runway. You'd think it wouldn't happen, but you'd be suprised to hear how easy it is.

Not enough r/w for t/o? Pulled on the yoke early to clear surroundings and then aircraft stalled?

Its horrible when it happens so close to where you are, especially for you Miller. My condolences to those involved.

we should know sometime soon, they have already got both black boxes. Hopefully we should get news within a few days.
There have been reports of an "accident" at the end of the runway.
btw, how much rwy. does a CRJ-200 need? It seems it took off from a runway with 3,500 ft. of pavement.

A CRJ-200 really only needs about 3,500 ft, but not when you're expecting it to be 7000 ft. Add that to a relatively full flight.

Terrible news...
The overhead shots show the crash site, a little more than a half mile off the end of the short(3500 ft.) runway there. Kinda a goofy set-up there, you have to cross the end of the short runway to get to the longer one. I can see how a mistake would be made.

In Dublin RWY28 and 34 share thresholds aswell as RWY16 and RWY11. I would have thought that would be easier than going onto an incorrect runway that is further away from the actual than what I just described.

uh, survivor, no plural, the first officer is undergoing an operation to repair internal damage.
The coroner has said most deaths will be fire related.
R.I.P. to all the victims.

7472 was the tail number of the aircraft.
The Comair pres, just confirmed the FO was the survivor. Bovicky(sp) was the last name. Kelley was the last name of the Capt.
I almost gagged this morning, when they were showing overhead shots, was another CRJ-100/200 taxiing into position on the correct runway

R.I.P.
This Accident reminds me about Valujet 590, maybe there are some similarities?
You work for Comair?
