on September 8th, 2020 can you remove Berlin Tegel (TXL) airport and replace it with the following:

Name: Berlin Brandenburg Int'l Airport:

IATA/ICAO Code: BER/EDDB

City: Berlin

Country: Germany

Longest Runway: 13,123 feet (3999.89 meters)

Annual Passengers: Currently about 13 million (pre-covid numbers) but projected to serve 48 million as the berlin (TXL) airport is closed & airlines are moving to BER

Location: 52° 21" North    13° 31" East (same as SXF) in fact T5 at BER airport use to be the SXF airport.

Monthly gate cost: maybe abt: $483,279 dollars monthly

Gates: abt 100  :| maybe 200  :sly:

how this could happen is that at the beginning of the year (jan 1st, 2020) a message is sent out saying to move to berlin (BER) the demand would calculate the TXL, and SXF and that would be the demand as both airports are now the one. after september 8th, 2020 the berlin TXL, and SXF would be declared political restricted to every other airport in the game regardless of the location of the airport. (it would also be politically restricted in the open worlds) and all airlines that don't move their operations to BER would lose their routes to/from Berlin TXL, and Berlin SXF. (which would be disastrous for airlines based in TXL and don't move operations.

they should add this in the game as this would update the AE world to today's standards (more or less) plus this would make it more fun and more jumpy all of the sudden.

well why not! i mean you couldn't actually operate a hub from ATL (Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta int'l Airport) until the late 1960s so an airline in 1958 couldn't start or have a major hub in ATL till then. instead, we implement a system that looks at when every airport was built and then stop letting people fly there if they close. now that would be something to do that would be fun.  :/

This game hasn't been properly updated in years. Calm down and enjoy it for what it is. Stop being insufferable

i do enjoy it for what it is but I'd like to point out that me wanting an change or an addon in something doesn't make me insufferable. sure no major change has happened for years but someday we'll get AE4........................................................in the year 32820 AD

just revisited the game after 3 years
not much has changed since

other than the recalibration of atlanta's gate leasing cost and this beijing airport

don't expect much, yuxi is the only one (as of what i know) keeping the game running

The easiest thing to do is to add a sort of political restriction on TXL and BER at those dates, a bit like how the wright amendment at DAL expires after 2014. But.... try telling some massive airline based there that they will have to move ALL of their operations.

Do we add in Stapleton International Airport and then switch it to Denver in 1995? Or on a certain date just change the gate numbers and runway lengths?

No one with a hub is going to want to recreate their routes. It would just need to be put into the game. Something like the restrictions at Dallas Love. On a certain date the airport info would change but the networks for airlines are left in place. Gate county and runway info is all that will change basically.

I think the best way for this to work would be that for example with Denver, an airline operating a hub at Stapleton won't want to move all their operations to the new airport. So either they're given an option to close their hub or move all their routes which could happen automatically though highly unlikely for a free game. The other option is that in 1995, the name of the airport changes along with number of gates and runway information. This would be much simpler and be enough to simulate the moving of routes from one airport to the next for airports that close with the opening of a new one.

That is the simplest option and it’s the one I think we all want.

Good idea, but I´m asking myself what the game shall do with the Berlin airports.

When THF closes there would be the problem that TXL and SXF won´t have proper gates since they are all taken.

When TXL closes the flight have to move to SXF/BER airport.

So we should opt for a mix of both options to capture the Berlin things.

And there is one more thing.

What shall we do airports which didn´t replaced an old airport like DXI and GRU?

Shall they continue to exist at all times or shall we disable then until there opening?
