So American Airlines canceled the orders for 22 A350s and instead nearly doubled their 787 fleets by ordering 47 more. The order will consist of 22 787-8s and 25 787-9s. What are your thoughts?

Why did they cancel their A350 orders?

Though I love Boeing, I bet that was a Trump conspiracy, whom I despise a lot <_<

In every way, shape and form the Boeing deal made a lot more sense. It reduces training costs associated with fleet commonality (Like Delta and the 787 order they inherited from Northwest) as well as maintenance costs and just makes like easier for American. American already has a very good profit margin and new planes and fleet commonality will only make it bigger.

Besides, the A350 order did come from U.S. Airways.

United is expected to get their first A350-900 later this year I believe, so I don't think they're going to ditch it completely. They deferred some A350s which were to be delivered in 2022 to 2027 so these ones might get cancelled, which I still doubt.
