Many airlines on AE tend to keep types that should be retired for a long time. E.g a fleet of 200 IL-18's in 2025. While flying 1000 A380s at the same time. Why do people do this? Why not replace it with another type in the future? I tend to replace types like the 727, 737-200/100, Fokkers, DC-9s in the 90s yet I see a strong fleet of them in the hundreds in the 2020s

Because if you have a fleet of hundreds, it's expensive and takes a long time. Also, the Old planes are sort of cute.

Because it's annoying to do it when you have a lot of aircraft. For example, I actually have more than 6 000 aircrafts with my airlines in O1.

In my case the Il-18 fills a niche for low density, long range routes.
My personal challenge in-game is to offer a twice daily service on my routes.
