I've noticed in R1 that that there is only around 190 airlines, but a few weeks ago there was 250. what's going on?

Well first off, quitting left and right is a bunch of people quitting in a short time (ie. a day or 2). What you're saying is probably normal.

What I can only think is stiffer competition and inflation preventing people from starting and thriving.

 

I may be a noob at this, but that's my 2 cents on the issue.

About 20 or so dropped out of US still like +50 running.
