With the Iowa Caucasus right around the corner I thought I would start a thread on this. This is for productive discussion, and you may have to play devils advocate to be part of the conversation. As I can see most everyone active in the current affairs forum is a liberal, so try to look from the outside in and asses what a Trump nomination means. I will give a list of the 22 conservatives who renounced Trump below, this is from the upcoming issue of the National Review.  Lets keep this on topic and talk about the possible implications of a Trump nomination, how the GOP could manage to stop it from happening(reasonably), and who you think has a chance to beat him out. Personal disclaimer: I DESPISE HIM

Here is the list (* = what I being a conservative view as a pivotal condemnation)

  • Glenn Beck*
  • David Boaz
  • L. Brent Bozell III
  • Mona Charen
  • Ben Domenech
  • Erick Erickson
  • Steven F. Hayward
  • Mark Helprin
  • William Kristol
  • Yuval Levin*
  • Dana Loesch*
  • Andrew C. McCarthy*
  • David M. McIntosh
  • Michael Medved
  • Edwin Meese III
  • Russell Moore
  • Michael B. Muskasey
  • Katie Pavlich
  • John Podhoretz
  • R. R. Reno
  • Thomas Sowell*
  • Cal Thomas

lol

And what is he saying exactly? Anything that people like to hear at the moment, but in the last decade he changed all of opinions he had as wind blew.

Right now, using the angriest and ugliest things in America to get ahead, destroying any rational policy and line that the GOP might have had.

Just another loud populist. Nothing right or honest about that, nor is his business prowess any remote proof he will make America more powerful and successful. (e.g. just look at Berlusconi)

His presidency would be very dangerous for American and global geopolitical stability (he already directly offended half of America's Muslim and Latino friends and at least annoyed most of others, maybe he would find a new bromance with the populist strongman Putin...), and for global democracy where America is always leading by example, even worse.

Not to mention as you touched on, its dangerous for the party. The GOP's reputation would probably never recover from his nomination and definitely not from his presidency. We would probably never have a chance of getting another republican in the office of the presidency. However, in all reality I think George W. hurt us enough that we may never see it happen again anyway. That is highly unlikely though.

Polling putting Trump against every Democratic candidate out there says otherwise. Really if Hillary gets the DNC nomination, the only Republican who can't beat her is Trump...

Trump will make America great again through his common sense policies, I fail to see what the laughing matter is. This big government is trying to take our right to burn down trees away from us. Soon we won't even be allowed guns, but the way it's going they won't need gun control because the top 10% won't be able to afford because we pay 70% of the taxes and we'll be feeling the Bern because 90% of our wages go to pay for gay black single teenage moms to exploit the system for child support. Trump is the only reasonable candidate for the republicans, we've had enough Bushes and the rest are bleeding heart socialists. We need to increase subsidies to decent forms like Exxon, Apple and Microsoft who provide excellent employment opportunities for American citizens too.

I find your mocking comedic. But for once some things that were actually fact came out of your mouth. Its funny what happens when your trying to mock a movement that is so impeccable, you start sounding slightly more intelligible than when you are being sincere. Trump is a laughing matter, I will post some videos in this thread to prove that. Your response however defeats the purpose of this thread. It was obvious what the underlying motivation was for your post. Let me put a logical spin on you "mocking".

Trump will destroy America through his careless policies, frankly its laughable anyone supports him. The united states government  continues to hemorrhage money at seemingly astronomical rates, and it MUST STOP NOW!!! The government is taking away our generations future and most definitely our childrens future. The United States is not a good investment with over 100 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. With upcoming financial ruin approaching the United States is trying to take away its citizens rights to keep and bear arms. Democrats routinely reference other countries who deprived their citizens of that God-given right as "success story", but I would urge those filthy liberals to lookat the homicide rates after gun bans in Britain, Chicago, Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Mao's China, Honduras, and Australia (violent crimes BESIDES homicides for this country). Also to try to bring about their egalitarian dreams liberals advocate (as well as Trump) insanely high tax rates on a economic group (the top 10%) who already bears more than 70% of this countries tax burden. Whilst half this country contribute nothing riding of the working classes cocktails. The Bushes are s*** and we have had enough STATIST leaders in this country. We need to STOP corporate welfare completely and avoid nominating its biggest exploiter from our party race for the presidency, Donald J. Trump.

Polling putting Trump against every Democratic candidate out there says otherwise. Really if Hillary gets the DNC nomination, the only Republican who can't beat her is Trump...

Wouldn't that only be confirming what he said.

I don't trust any republican candidates. Look at trump, he filed for hic company bankruptcy for 4 times in his life. He would filled the fifth one for the US in 2 years.

Donald Trump is the perfect choice for the GOP, because nonsensical candidates and nonsensical political parties tend to attract. What we should be concerned about is that little man from Vermont getting in the way of Hillary Clinton on her way to the White House.

Donald Trump's not a laughing matter, he's just xenophobic to a point where it's scary. What will be funny are the amazing SNL sketches created by a joint Trump/Palin run.

Conservatives channel that focus on their logic on how being on the right side is a better choice.

We also have left wing videos that focus on their logic how being on the left side is a better choice.

You realized all this political bull**** is just an illusion created by human to achieve their invisible glory?

Liberalism like he said is 100% dependent on us conservatives. So I will gladly say to any liberal on here, you would be nothing without my ideology. CONSERVATISM'S success is what makes a liberals only policy, because they hate ANYONE being better than them. Its the most selfish ideology on earth. In fact it is a poison, ruining economies and culture WORLDWIDE, and flooding the developed western world with useless scum of the earth. Everywhere conservatism goes LIBERTY, PROSPERITY, CULTURE, AND FRUGALITY follow. Everywhere liberalism goes TYRANNY, FAILURE, INELEGANCE, AND IRRESPONSIBILITY follow. Simple, good day sir.

LOL, sure do kiddo. Just like how God is real right?

The last time I check, almost all african countries are poor. Guess what, they are conservatives, extremely conservatives. Yet, tyranny, failure, inelegance, irresponsibility and Stupidity follow their every step. Same goes for middle east apart from their oil money. Look at Eastern European which is mainly conservatives. Or southeast asian countries like Malaysia, brunei, Indonesia, vietnam, myanmar, laos, cambodia. They are conservatives. Yet, their countries still goes tits up. And this is come from Indonesian. Can we throw some shades to pakistan and India?

Your world view is obviously distorted by current superficial American discussions and you don't understand terms you're using right now. America was built on liberty. Real educated conservatives in America are aware that they are actually either conservative-classical liberals or libertarians, entire American political spectrum is far liberal on most matters (it's what makes America great and different), with a big difference that Democrats are socially liberal (that's what people usually mean) and economically less so, but Republicans are even for other conservative parties in the world actually extremely economically liberal, even if they're socially conservative.

Even your favorite Glenn Beck said he's a classical liberal. So educate yourself what that means.

Real conservative conservatism is in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. And look how much liberty and prosperity that brings.

Arguably, Conservatives would be nothing without Liberals. Who sells the product which brings your money? Who cleans the floors? At the end of the door economics is a pyramid scheme, if one level disintegrates we all disintegrated. So before you attack liberals, remember what pays your wages.
