What would you do if you owned Spirit. Here's what i'd do.

1. Increase seat pitch to 29 inches, and scrap big front seats. Instead, leave the bulkhead partition out and keep the seat width at 18 inches, reducing aisle width by 1.5 inches.

2. Remove carry-on charges and reduce checked-bag charges to $30 per bag

3. Increase fares to make up for loss of ancillary revenues XD

1. Close down the whole airline.

2. Join Virgin America to help it expand its network.

I would make Spirit vaguely pleasant to fly on. They lose many customers to Frontier and Jetblue due to legro.om

1. Scrapped all the big front seat and fitted all the all the plane with maximum configuration. 180Y on A320, 156Y on A319, and 220Y in A321.

2. Order 10 A330-300 for Caribbean and South American expansion.

3. Order 60 A321-200, 47 A320, and 50 A321NEO.

I would go a tad further than that.

1. Remove seat pockets, replace them with in-built plastic wallets that don't expand with more stuff in them (less likely to shred)

2. Scrap big front, yes. 189 Y A320, no rear galley, 156 Y A319, no rear galley, more legroom instead, and 231 Y in A321, again no rear galley. You can see my total dedication to comfort (not!).

I don't think airline could fir 189 seats in current A320 or 231 seat on A321. Maybe for the NEO but not on the current CEO. And I agree on the first point you make.

Airbus is in the midst of making the required modifications for it.

I've heard about 186 for A320 but not 189. Although it might change in the near future.

I'd make it partner with other Low Cost Carriers, add routes to vacation areas, and possibly add Canadian Flights.

Why don't just crushed the competitor or buy them out?

Why not get Easyjet to buy them, and Carry Richards or whoever the spirit CEO is can get precisely $0 for selling the airline. Easyjet can then add connections. No brainer. Ryanair with spirit will equal bad service.

funny that you all don't understand spirit's strategy...

they make $$$ with fees, flying into major airports at the times when slots are dirt cheap (midday, early morning, late night), and for intl flights have overnight arrivals and departures.

but once you take it all into account, on a routing like ORD-MGA, a proper airline like Copa is just a little more, gets you in at a much more acceptable hour, and actually treats you well.

fares are already high with them. they just do it differently.

I meant increase up-front fares.

they are already high.

let me check them:

Yeah! They are a rip-off without the fees and that is the last straw. They must be bankrupted.

Order 35 A319's, 25 A321-200's, 20 767-300ER's and 50 A320-200's. New bases will be Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Newark. Expand to the Caribbean, South America, Europe and Africa. Some would be charters and seasonals. (And a charter to Haneda from Portland). Airbus series will be fitted with 175Y, 200Y, 156Y, the 767's will be fitted in 35C/195Y and 35C/165Y and 35C/205.

B767?  O_O  Why not B787-8 or A330-200?

I think it's cos he loves 767 and cannot bear the thought of rejecting them.

TNT, this ain't your spam airlines. Spirit is doing fine as it is, it just needs a few more aircraft for vacation expansions. I actually like their strategy with Cleveland, it's nice when an airline takes a non-major airport and makes it feel like it could be one day. They appeal to people like my dad, he'd fly Spirit for a dirt cheap fare. I'm sure there's about 140 per flight that feel the same way.

Starting:
-ditch BFS. Kinda stupid.
-Expand network to more midsize cities and markets. ie CLT to coincide with A expansion opening or STL/SMF.
-Get out of longer markets ie LAX-BWI. Heard those aren't making much.
-Add an extra legroom like F9's stretch BUT less seats and higher prices (or better yet, a bidding system :P)
-Get an A321, set it up like Trumps 757 and live in it :D
