So!  

 

I was thinking.  I've wanted to do an Alaskan regional carrier for some time now, but there's so little profit that you can't compete with larger airlines, and it's not much fun anyways since you have no competition.  This kinda goes for all regional airlines in this game, unless you're in the middle of the USA.  So my idea is that we should have a world with Alaska only, and not very many people at all, maybe 20 at most (we would need multiple games).  The largest aircraft would be maybe a Dash 8, and there would be more smaller aircraft included (i.e. Quest Kodiak, Piper Cheyenne, Cessna 172, etc.).  This way, you would have competition, and you would not be washed out by all the enormous airlines.  Oh yeah and WAY more Alaskan airports.

 

So what do you think?

An Alaska World, as nice as it sounds, is too small a catchment for AE. Although I will say an Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Iceland world might work .

I like that, although all of Canada might spawn more huge airlines.  Maybe take off southern Canada and through in Eastern Russia?  Bering Air operates flights irl from Alaska to Russia so maybe...

 

Oh and we would need 737s in there too.

I'm not sure whether software to limit airports exists yet, but I wouldn't like to see Russia in it as a base airport. If there were to be changes to aircraft, I would suggest no Russian aircraft. An An-72 would clean up on longer routes so I'd suggest Cessna, Piper, Short, Embraer, De Havilland, ATRs, DC-8s,Bombardier, Fokkers, Boeing 717s and helicopters only. Plenty of choice of RJs, Whetstone, CRJs as well as practical longer distance domestic routes. This is assuming it's 1980s - 2020s but I'd like to hear the OP's view on this as well as Yuxi's.
EDIT: I should add, while Canada may not be ideal to add, I would say it's necessary if this world were to get a feasible number of airlines. Running a world with 20 or 30 airlines has been suggested (albeit as a private world) and seen as a waste of server space.

I think 737s could be unfair as they would be the only big fish in a small pond. What timeline may I ask?

Hmm... Well maybe we could go 1980-2020?  Either that or modern times.  I think you're right on the 737's, it would give the game a whole new level of unwanted depth.

This area will be more fun to simulate in the future when cargo is brought in to the game.  Then we'll be able to fly to those far-flung Northern destinations using a combi.

Greenland? I mean we had suggested Antarctica but Greenland?
