I was thinking, as an addition to the worlds in AE, if we could possibly add in cargo. I have seen that other airline management games such as airlinesim do it already and it is a great feature that would add allot of fun into the game. It's just a thought but I think it would be really good.

Everyone is wrong here. Cargo is scheduled to be implemented in AE5, which will come out in 4013.

WHY do not have cargo operations
These are the suggestions already suggested for AE4.0 and so you don't have to suggest them again which annoys some people (including me).
STOPOVER
CARGO OPERATIONS
TIMETABLES
FUEL STOPS
,etc.
Anyone is free to add to the list. For now these are the one that popped in mind
Yeah, Cargo will be added in AE 4.0
I could go on...

Out of interest: how long did it take to code the basics of AE?

It took 3 1/2 yrs to code a website for health care..........I'm sure coding cargo into AE is not as easy as that was.

I suppose but it surely didn't take that long to code the current AE (I know little bits are constantly being added on but I mean the basics before the feature requests were implemented)It took 3 1/2 yrs to code a website for health care..........I'm sure coding cargo into AE is not as easy as that was.
