New York City-

The bells of freedom have been ringing across the former Warsaw Pact ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1991. The fall of the wall makes the end of an economic dark age for much of Central and Eastern Europe, with nothing but promise for economic success on the horizon. The breakup of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic hints at this change, and this change is evident in the nation's national carrier Czech Airlines. Since the late 1980s, Czech Airlines has been modernizing its fleet, replacing outdated Soviet equipment with modern Western equivalents, centered around the Boeing 737 series, the Airbus A310 and ATR turboprops. Czech is working to improve service on the ground as well, recently completing a brand new refurbishment and expansion of its terminal at its hub at Prague-Václav Havel Airport, with hopes of turning the new Prague into not only an up and coming destination city, but also a European Hub.

In recent years, Czech has worked to increase its presence throughout Central Europe and the Balkans by opening up dozens of new flights to Germany, Poland, the Ukraine and the Former Yugoslavia. Czech was chosen to join the Excel Alliance because of its strategic position in Central Europe, with prime access to both the West and the expanding East. Czech serves only to strengthen the centre of Excel's European network, bolstering its position with the addition of twenty-two new destinations ranging from Leipzig, Germany to Zagreb, Croatia. Czech expects to work with nearby member Suisse Airlines, feeding its extensive intercontinental operations through Prague and Zurich.

Again, Excel Welcomes Czech Airlines
