Well, I'm not sure who has or hasn't seen the footage from the temple, but a few days ago a gunman entered the temple and opened fire, killing 6 people, including one of the founders. The gunman himself was killed by a police officer when he shot another officer.

Talk amongst yourself about the event here.

P.S. The scariest thint here is how easily this happened, and I've been in That temple before... Scary!

Fact what I notice, the Batman Colorado shootings happened a short while ago. And now another shooting has taken place.

Gun law wise, I think the gun laws are perfectly safe ONLY by responsible people which are the majority of people. Only very few go and kill other people with firearms.

Fact is what drives people to kill other people?

Some mixture of hatred and mental illness I gather, with emphasis on the latter. :S

Gun control always seems strange to me.

When you have the UK, where there is currently (i think) rather strict gun control, its easy-ish to enforce, because guns are not widely spread.
In America, however. Since its your right to own a gun, guns are owned by far more people, and suddenly going "okay give us the guns so we can get rid of them" would probably not be effective. :S

That's not to say either the UK or US is superior, its just how things seem to me.

Wisconsin just introduced a conceal and carry permit option for those who want to carry a gun... Are you kidding me?

I get that, when the Bill of Rights was written, a firearm was an essential part of your daily life. However that was the 18th Century and as Bob Dylan eloquently summed it up "The times they are a-changin'". What makes less sense to me is that I can very easily go down to my local gun shop and buy an assault rifle with a 100-round drum magazine and military grade holographic sight (if I have the financial resources). Society also plays an important factor in the gun-control debate, and I don't feel that ours has the idea of "just because I can do something, doesn't mean I should" burned into their heads. ie: I CAN go out and buy a shotgun and carry it around in my coat "just in case", however does that mean I should?

I totally support Governor Quinn's proposal, if anyone can think of a legit reason to carry an AK-47, for something that they can easily do with a pistol, like shooting targets, please bring it up? :D

There are about as many firearms as there are people. Any attempt at mass gun confiscation will inevitably result in a civil war, due to the sheer number of gun owners (44% of population) If even 1% resist that is at least a million people. Gun confiscation will not work in the US, and that should be clear to anyone.

But I still think it over the top to have an assault rifle, a pistol or hunting rifle sure, but not an assault rifle. Like Kitty said, what do I need an AR-15 for? If I'm a hunter I can get along just fine with a Remington hunting rifle. So I think we should re-instate the Assault Weapons ban. Another Orwellian solution would be to basically Lo-Jack every legally owned gun in the United States to deal with illegally owned firearms. But I digress.

Perhaps you are into collecting Assault Rifles, or shooting them.

The way I see it, gun control laws don't stop criminals from getting them and using them, so why have them? (Minus automatic weapons, non-law enforcement/military people have no use for them, ofc)
