I've done the keeping them out of my turf. I do it at all of my hubs. I'll continually look at his airline to see where he is expanding to and kill on flights from my hubs that he adds, but I won't bother chasing him. There's a large difference between "keeping someone out of your turf" and invading every new route and hub an airline starts anywhere in the country that have nothing to do with the "predator" airline.
What's the best way to handle a jerk?

Without opening a hub start flying on his routes but only satisfy 10% of the demand. He probably will not notice. You know you really created this problem by asking the other player not fly between your hubs. It was an unreasonable request. What would Richard Branson do if an airline asked him to go fly elsewhere? He would tell them to take a running jump and reduce prices and up capacity.
I didn't create the problem by asking. He could have very well just said no and went on his merry way working on his airline, just like I would have. He didn't have to start chasing me around like he is. I didn't ask him to fly elsewhere. I just asked for my five hub-to-hub routes back. None of them were hub-to-hubs for him, so I figured it wasn't too unreasonable.

I've just reduced a competitor for having 75% of passengers at an airport to them having less than 30% It is called competition.

I'm sorry to hear he's trying to get all your routes. But now you just have to fight back: reduce costs and lower the price, but you can also add a profitible IFS.
It's competition now. If you lose it, you're not good enough at it, at least compared to him. You just lost a one-on-one fight. Remember David won from Goliath?

This isn't a game played exclusively by 'gentlemen'.
Why do so many people not understand this?

I did recently update my IFS and start price-dumping and the cuts must have worked because yesterday he actually closed his airline! I guess I fought back hard enough and he realized that he was losing too much money.

I understand that, I just figured I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt before I started slashing my prices. I thought that maybe we could come to a compromise, like I did with another airline, and that one has worked out very nicely and greatly benefitted us both.

Nope. Curse of the spellchecker.. Should have read "from 75%" not "for 75%" which of course didn't make sense! Mind you it is down to 15% now!

Indeed. And they have every right to do such a thing. There are many airlines in real life that will hold a grudge against another particular airline, and will, where possible, attempt to destroy them.
Surely thats in breach of every competition law there is?

Boeing and Airbus compete against each other. They are not allowed to exacly copy each others designs. As it will mean richest and best rep wins not origionallity.
And for example, with airlines. An better airline just copies another smaller airline's travel routes and causes it to close down. So that would mean richest and best rep wins...
I'm not fully sure about why an airline can compete and copy exacly what another airlines routes are
btw: I'm tired right now, I might have wrote some incorrect stuf f

Well, I guess that works sometimes, but not for him. He drove himself out of business, and now I have my routes back!

My airline is struggling right now because a fellow player is personally attacking my airline because I asked him/er to stay off my hub-to-hub routes. They refused, and now are attacking my airline viciously. Any tips on how to handle this? restructuring is not an option because they are opening EVERY one of my routes! I need help and I have come here to try to get it.
Now...back to the OP, well if you've played enough online games that involve real people, i seriously wouldn't recommend asking for someone to stop attacking you, makes it even funner for the person on the offensive and only encourages them to attack you. now tips, be really aggressive and get your hands on as many a/c as you can, have maxed configs and most importantly, be a bigger jerk than the jerk thats attacking you

LOL I'm good at the part about being a jerk, so that won't be a problem! Thanks for the ideas and I'm sure they'll work.
About not asking somebody to stop attacking you, trust me it wasn't my first choice, but sometimes people have to take drastic actions to save something they have worked hard at creating and making what it is today. I have asked people (one person) in the past if we could make some kind of compromise and they agreed and we are now happily coexisting, helping each other out. I thought maybe this could be the same way. I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and he gave me crap so I slashed my prices down to the floor and drove him out.
