Subject: Fleet Renewal Update

May 11, 2001

Toronto, ON- SkyOne~ airways announced today that it will be modifying its current fleet renewal plan. The planned third Saab 2000 will not be delivered, and instead these funds will be used to help finance the purchase of an Embraer E-Jet (which type is still in negotiations). The airline's CEO, Rbrt~, cited that fierce competition in Toronto was the cause of this. He also said, "the Embraer E-Jets have a highly superior CASM compared to all aircraft under 110 seats, and, as such, will work more efficiently and allow more profitability. As well, the E-Jets are far faster than our current turboprops, which will allow us to open up more routes.
