I Think its a request to make the Two letter airline code a three letter one.
IE: Rather than "XY" For Transjet, Something like "XYZ" Or "TJA"

I think it means that you can make two-letter OR three-letter codes. I think it's a good idea, as it would give us many more options for our codes
Example: If you have an airline called easyjet, and EZ is already aken, you could choose EZY, EZJ, ...

I do agree. Having both would be very good and realistic! :P

Both? Meaning what? A two letter and three letter code each for IATA/ICAO field?

Make it how it is in real life, and make each airline select:

1) A two letter IATA code
2) A three leter ICAO code

(Yes, IATA does allow for three letter codes, but none are used that I know of)

Airlines and airports should have both ICAO and IATA codes and be searchable by them. :P
